That's a hard question. 3 fave Zep songs....I think it depends on the mood you're in.

the last three Zep songs I heard rank high on my list

- D'Yer Mak'er
- Rock & Roll
- Stairway to Heaven (of course)

Now if I may pose a question to all of you dear people.....It is alleged that Stairway to Heaven was "stolen" from this 1968 song by Spirit. It's only a couple of minutes, but have a listen & weigh in with your thoughts.

From their self-tilted album from 1968. Jimmy Page was a fan of Spirit and early Led Zeppelin shows often included them performing Spirit's "Fresh Garbage." Page, who has become notorious for taking credit for songs that he blatantly ripped off from others (the first three Zeppelin albums were the worst offenders), took the descending guitar line from "Taurus" and used it for "Stairway to Heaven."

good evening all, be prepared for a rainy day, that is what they say. well today was it. i left to go to work and couldnt get in my truck, left the park lights on so the remotes dont work, thank you fancy electronics, try the key- it doesnt work. go inside have a tea, half soak already and call work, also gave me tiime to do reps. i cant find any tools except a nail prybar, so i try to open the hood of the truck with that and it actually works. so i figure i will get the car and boost the truck, oops the car keys are in the truck. luckily i tape a key under the car and from then on things went a little smoother, sorry i had to get it out. :rant: so how was your rainy day?

Hope everyone enjoyed their day.

Treat dispensers came for a visit today. They showed up really early (poor critters were still in bed), so I could drive my Dad to the courthouse for jury duty (well, jury selection). The good news is he's not watching the trial of a litle brat that brandished a firearm & tried to shoot at folks. Here's hoping he gets a nice white collar criminal tomorrow. :P

It's based on the same basic chord progression as Stairway but it's a bit of a stretch to say that Jimmy Page stole it. There are only so many chords and chord progression possibilities that sound good together and it's inevitable that you're going to find some similarities and apparent duplication. I've heard Randy Bachman talk about some of the chord progressions that he borrowed from other artists. I've even accused Andrew Lloyd Webber of stealing a couple of bars from Pink Floyd's Echoes for one of the pieces from Phantom of the Opera, but I'm sure he sees it differently.

Actually, in a lengthy Piece I was just reading about Stairway to Heaven, it does claim that it is acknowledged...

"The guitar introduction is one of the most famous pieces ever played on the guitar, but was in fact borrowed from the song Taurus by Spirit, who were touring with Led Zeppelin at the time. They have been interviewed about this and apparently do not mind. It opens with an Am-Fmaj7 chord progression with a chromatic descending bassline A-G#-G-F#-F. "
