The executives at Johnson & Johnson can now add a very different usage to the product label for K-Y Jelly: kitten rescue. According to theBirmingham (U.K.) Mail, a stray calico kitten recently wedged her head in a tire and underwent an unconventional rescue using the personal lubricant.
The curious kitty, now named Alloy, was discovered by a Birmingham, England homeowner, who recognized the feline as one of the feral cats from the area. The worried animal lover found Alloy by following the kitten's cries into a nearby shed, where she saw her stuck in the hole of a tire frame.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was called to free Alloy from the tight spot. RSCPA Inspector Herchran Boal said he originally tried using margarine to slip the cat out. After that failed, Boal decided to take Alloy, tire and all, to the RSCPA's hospital, thinking the cat might need to be cut out. Luckily, a quick-thinking employee suggested using K-Y Jelly. The lubricant proved to be a success, and soon Alloy was free and being showered with love.
The 10-week-old kitten is now resting at the Birmingham Animal Hospital, where workers say she is making a speedy recover. They hope to find Alloy a home after she is fully healed, preferably one where her curiosity can be more easily managed.
