O.K., alright I'm usually the bad guy here
and since I think it needs to be said I guess I'm elected.
It is absolutely ridiculous and a total loss of perspective
and misplaced affection to spend thousands of dollars on
animal surgery while kids starve worldwide and amputees go
without artificial limbs etc. etc. etc.
Give your heads a shake.
These are animals and people are people ,not vice versa.

I know I'll hear about this from many of you
but really ,think about it.

I have to disagree with you there RL! Animals have a right to a decent life and help if we can give it to them when they are suffering. It is not misplaced affection if you love your pet very much and want to help him out of his suffering. There is all kinds of suffering in this world and animals should not always be put last on the list - they too have feelings of pain and love. The way you say it animals should not have money spent on them to save them - they should just be left to suffer or be "put down" ie. killed - that I would say is ridiculous and definitely not right!!!! Vet bills are way to high but if you have the money and you love your pet then so be it!!!

morning Q sters,
HAPPY THURSDAY!
HOLY COW! where did all the heat go? looks like mother nature turned the AC on outside. now i can wear my jacket both inside & out. don't think the guys realize that it's NOT HOT OUT!
kitty is back home & no her vet stay wasn't anywhere near as expensive as 22's son's puppy.
she does have to continue with her antibiotics & soft food till the weekend, then i can give her her crunchy food softened with some broth. none of my furballs have ever had canned cat food so this was a treat for her. she inhaled it & the other 2 wanted it too. not only do i have to keep them away from her food, i have to keep her away from their food. to rid this problem, i put warm broth in the bowls, so if furball decided that she was going to invade the other 2's food, it wouldn't hurt her.
Rockie, if we didn't have OHIP, we'd be paying astromonical fees to doctors & hospitals for treatment as well. the only different i see between the two is it's humane to put an animal in pain or dying to sleep, but it's against the law for that to happen to people. maybe you don't consider a pet part of your family, but i do & i'm sure there are a lot of other people who do too. it's a personal decision for everyone. while i understand & respect your choice, i don't necessarily agree with it.
