Old Weston Road bridge, looking southeast, CPR freight crossing West Toronto Diamond, entering West Toronto Yard.
Taken from the roof of Campbell Milling Company, July 28, 1920. Arthur S. Goss/City of Toronto Archives
Note: This bridge was closed to traffic in July 1972 due to deteriorated condition and the lack of government funding to rebuild it caused it to be demolished in July of 1981 although the approaches remained for some time before being removed. Traffic congestion has existed ever since as only a narrow ancient Keele Street underpass remains in the area.

had a great time on my mini vacation. never been up the 400 that far. i think i was in McSkier country. past the exit for mt st louie & moonstone. i've been up 11 as far as huntsville, where we would vacation when we were kids. very nice drive despite the 1 lane construction. got to see a couple of different locks in operation, 1 manual & 1 hydraulic, very cool. the weather the 1st day was excellent, sunny & hot. took a boat ride thru a whole bunch of different lakes & saw some "cottages" that are bigger than my house. took a bazillion pictures & have 1 of a huge tree, standing what looks to be 50' higher then all the rest of the tress. enjoyed a great BBq steak dinner that night with home made potato salad & grilled zuccini & onions. mmmmm, was that ever good. we even boated over to a floating houseboat ice cream shop & had ice cream for dessert. tuesday morning took the pedal/paddle boat out & did a slower tour of the lake & stopped at the manual lock to watch it transfer a boat from the lower part of the lake to the upper. they had a couple of people, 1 on either side to wind & unwind the gates to open & close them. it had started to spit a bit, no big deal & by the time we pedaled back to the dock, it was raining harder, but not a downpour. had the swimsuit on, so no big deal. had BBQ beer chicken that night for dinner with homemade potato salad & grilled peppers, zuccini & onions. 1st time for beer chicken, it was great. will show pics tonight. had lots of fun. if the weather would stay like it is in the summer, during the winter, i could see living there. it's really beautiful.
