One of the things that struck me from my first trip to the UAE, almost 5 years ago now, was the simple beauty and elegance of some of the public art, signage and decor. Where we would have a simple highway embankment, they have an art space in white plaster decorated with delicate lines or patterns. Corporate logos, public or private sector, are elevated to a different level. Check out this site,
www.calligraphylogo.com/gallery.html
The most common shape in this "Kufi" calligraphy is the teardrop shape, which to me looks like a campfire. This artist has taken the idea of arabic calligraphy a step farther, and designs the words to fit into whatever shape or format the customer requests. My favourites in the sample gallery are the elephant, the horses and the various birds.
I am seriously considering getting my company motto/vision statement done as a Canada Goose in flight. This would tie together the scope of my company, from here to there. Plus, the resemblance to Inuit art is striking, and I have worked in the Arctic as well.Last edited by psells; Sun, Dec 16th, 2012 at 10:16 AM.

In case anyone has gifts still to buy for people they don't really like, here is a suggested link for you to check out. Not such a nice day out there today, but I do hope you all can make the most of it.
