Teen dies after accident at Lakeridge Ski Resort’s terrain park in Uxbridge

A 16-year-old boy who was severely injured after an accident at the terrain park of Lakeridge Ski Resort has died from his injuries, Durham police confirmed.
The boy, whose identity has not been released, fell and hit his head while skiing at the terrain park Friday evening.
He was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital for emergency treatment, after being found unresponsive on the scene.
Doctors were unable to save the teen, who succumbed to his injuries and died Saturday morning.
Jennifer Stovin, Director of Operations at Lakeridge Ski Resort, confirmed the accident happened in the terrain park.
“I understand that he was skiing in our terrain park, and the incident did happen on the last jump in the park,” Stovin said.
Reports indicate the teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
“Make sure that you’re always knowledgeable about the actual terrain park features,” Stovin said.
Lakeridge is a ski and snowboard resort in Uxbridge, frequented by families and youth from the GTA.
Lakeridge will be open for business Saturday, however officials told 680News the jump that the boy was killed on will remain closed.
Staff members were extremely upset to heat about the accident, Stovin said.
“We are extremely sad for the family, our hearts are definitely going out to them today.”
