Toronto, GTA could get winter storm Tuesday night
TORONTO – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning that a potential winter storm could hit Toronto and the GTA on Tuesday evening.
The weather agency is warning of significant amounts of precipitation, but there is still a great deal of uncertainty when it comes to what areas will see mostly rain or snow, as temperatures will be fairly close to the freezing mark.
680News meteorologist Jill Taylor is tracking the system.
“For Toronto and the GTA right now, it looks like a significant snowfall, but again, there could be quite a bit of mixing with rain, so we’ll continue to watch this as me move through the week. Just be prepared for Wednesday, through the morning especially,” Taylor said.
At this point, Environment Canada says the GTA could see up to 15 centimetres of snow. However, that could change.
This storm system is the result of a low pressure system moving up from Texas.
In the United States, some areas in the Great Plains region is dealing with life-threatening blizzard conditions. At least 17 states are under some sort of winter weather warning or advisory.
