Premier Kathleen Wynne is set to unveil her government's plan to slash electricity prices for Ontario households and businesses.
Wynne will make the announcement at Queen's Park at 9:30 a.m.
"We're going to bring forward immediate relief," Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault told the Legislature Wednesday. He refused to confirm or deny a report in the Toronto Star that the plan will result in a 17 per cent cut to hydro bills, on top of an eight per cent rebate on HST that began January 1.
The Liberals have said repeatedly they would bring forward further reductions in hydro costs before tabling this year's budget. Originally, Wynne signalled the cuts would be targeted to people hurt the most by high electricity costs, but she has since shifted to promising lower rates across the board.
The average monthly hydro bill in Ontario has doubled over the past decade. The biggest single spike happened last year, when a taxpayer-funded hydro subsidy of 10 per cent expired, followed by summertime increases in the price of electricity.
As hydro bills rose in 2016, pollsters found electricity grew to become the top issue of concern among Ontario voters. Wynne's popularity dropped to record lows, and she acknowledged in November that she'd made a mistake by "not paying close enough attention" to the impact on people's lives.

Slashing Hydro Bills
Premier Kathleen Wynne and Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault are set to tell electricity ratepayers how the Liberal government plans to reduce their bills.
Reports suggest the plan is to slash soaring hydro bills by 17 per cent largely by paying the costs of electricity generation contracts over longer periods.
Did You Know?
More than 80% of the world's renewable energy is generated from hydropower.
Top 10 Fraud Scams
The Competition Bureau and several fraud-prevention partners have announced the Top-10 fraud scams targeting Canadians last year.
Tops on the list in terms of complaints received was the employment scam that bilked victims out of 5.3-million dollars when people sent cheques people offering jobs they can do from home.
Raps Flat in Loss to Washington
The Toronto Raptors saw their four-game winning streak come to an end. Bojan Bogdanovic had 27 points to lead the visiting Washington Wizards to a 105-96 win over Toronto

Elvis Costello & The Imposters
Jul 20, 2017, 8PM
Use code: INSIDERBy popular demand, Elvis Costello & The Imposters bring their new show, “Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers,” back for a coast-to-coast North American run. Last fall, Costello debuted the tour to rave reviews.
The Imposters – Pete Thomas on drums, Davey Faragher on bass and vocals and Steve Nieve on piano and keyboards - will once again be augmented by accompanying vocalists, Kitten Kuroi and YahZarah. At recent shows, these singers joined Costello at the microphone for a sparse but beautiful version of “Alison,” while “Everyday I Write The Book” was returned to its original recorded arrangement in a set that goes from hushed ballads to a rock and rhythm finale.

Good morning fellow Canucks!
The Rush concert is over and I am waiting for that phone call from Q to tell me that I won the Geddy Lee bass.
Of course, I am still waiting to win that Honda Civic when I RRRoll Up The Rim. But I will be fine if I don't win the car. I bump my head getting in and out of that car.
But I really want that bass!
.
Tonight my son will be performing a few songs at Spot One in Brampton:

The B & W picture is my son from a previous jam.
As an added bonus, I may go up and play a song, while my son sings. The more cocktails the audience drinks, the better I may sound... and look!
Well folks, have a great day!
Good morning my Q friends. Happy Thirsty Thursday.
