Thought it was to get a little warmer? Seeing lots of road closures for today. Be safe on the roads!!!

Holt wow Mechman...how does one detach a retina? Hope it heals itself.

My neighbour who I helped with the charge on his minivan isn't doing to well. He wasn't feeling to well and was taken to the Brantford hospital and then transported to Hamilton yesterday morning. His wife is still not home. Dan had quad by-pass a few years ago and has been on oxygen for awhile now. If you can say a prayer for Dan it'd be appreciated.

Take care and keep warm. The weekend should be warmer...

I talked with his wife this morning and Dan's potassium level had spiked causing his grief. His vitals are stable and he is on a kidney dialysis machine and a tube down his throat. Hopefully this gets him better...On another sad note I took my dad and a buddy of his to a funeral home tonight, a friend of theirs father passed away, slipped on the ice and broke a hip. While in the hospital they gave him pain meds which caused a massive heart attack. He was 94 years old and as spry as ever...not a good few days. Hopefully this is all the bad news for the year...

Talked with my neighbour earlier this evening and Dan is still at St. Joe's in Hamilton. They can't find where he bleeding from internally, doing tests. He is in good spirits. Hopefully they can find what's wrong with him soon and get him back home...

Happy Friday Jr Q sters,
this year keeps getting better. last year ended with the great ice storm, no power for almost a week, tree branches everywhere, while the new year has brought frigid temps & 12' of white stuff. i knew something was up on Monday when work changed a few things around. our Brantford store was isolated from all the other stores as far as phone calls went for over a year. they could only answer their calls & all other stores weren't suppose to answer answer their either. Monday, i noticed that they were part of the Oakville queue. they were answering their calls & our calls. i mention this discovery to my boss. we both knew something was up. well, today when i got to work, i found out what that reason for this was. i also noticed that the BIG boss had showed up at the store. my heart was noiw in my stomach & quietly asked my boss, why was he here. he said he didn't know. the big boss called my boss into the office & they had a talk. as soon as he was done, i was told to go see him. i walked in & shut the door, apprehension was in my face as i sat down. he looked at me & said, it's not that bad. apparently his version of "not that bad" & mine are 2 different things. i was laid off today, which really sucks. the reason given was Oakville's sales were way down. the Burlington store has been running with 1 person for a while & since Oakville's sales were just $15,000 above Burlington's, this ment someone had to go....................me. i was & still am pissed. he said it was for a maximum of 13 weeks, but we all know what happens after that. no one else that has been put on that lay off before has ever come back. although, the BB said, i would be back after that, if not before hand, if sales pick up. my boss drove me home, since i couldn't have the comapny van any longer. since i'm not an employee, i'm not insured to drive it. while driving me home, i mentioned to my boss that i wasn't happy with our salesguy. he's the 1 who is suppose to drum up business & i blame him. i send him a text this morning that said "Thanx a lot" my boss said once he drove me home, he was heading to Oakville to have a talk with him to make him understand that the next step after me is closing the Oakville store & then every Oak employee will be out of work. apparently this is suppose to be a rude awakening for the salesguy to make him understand that we need sales to survive, i'm the sacrifical lamb to get this across to him. before leaving i had asked the BB if they could just lay the salesguy off instead of me. he smiled & said not to worry, he was sure i would be bad soon. easy for him to say, both he & his wife are still working. needless to say, i will keep a positive attitude & look at this as being an opportunity to get a few things done around the house. 1 positive note, the weather will warm up for the next 2 days, so i should be able to get rid of the ice on the driveway. take care & stay warm.


ok, the blowing of bubbles, xcountry skiing & listening to the white stuff, all no problem. going swimming & making white stuff angels, not bloody likely.

Holy Cow, what has happened to Derringer? He has lost way too much weight. is he sick?

Went back to Sunnybrook today, retina had re-attached!
The doctor did a laser treatment to further "cement" the attachment.
The bubble will apparently dissipate over the next week, then I have to go back in for a further check up.
But the prognosis is great so far, still have to sleep sitting up though.
Need one of these I guess

morning Q sters,
i don't know about you, but so far, 2014 & January suck & we're not half way thru the month yet. i have some sad news, rodent & i had a death in the family this morning. Rodent in particular, is very upset. her baby hamster, Nutmeg passed away today. it was really sudden. she was playing with er last night & everything was fine, but this morning when rodent woke up, Nutmeg was lying outside of her house, not moving. rodent picked her up & she moved a bit, but was so cold. she called me & i took Nutmeg, while she called the vet. i grabbed a towel & wrapped her in it to keep warm & put the heating pad on low & laide her on it. i did notice that there was blood coming out of her nose & mouth as she took her last breath & went to Hamsterville in the sky. Nutmeg was the baby of her other hamster Penny & wasn't quite 2 years old yet. she was checking online to see why this happened to her hamster & from the symptoms, it sounds like she had a pulmantary embolism or stroke. from the info, she died without pain & that has comforted rodent. needless to say, she is so upset. we have been keeping a close eye on Penny to make sure nothing is wrong with her, but so far, she remains active.
