Crap :rant:Denver Broncos beat New England Patriots 26-16:thumbs_down:
Vancouver Canucks left wing Alex Burrows (14) wrestles with Calgary Flames defenscman Mark Giordano (5) during the first period of NHL action in Vancouver on Saturday.
It hasn't been a good week for the Vancouver Canucks. The team limped home after a three-game winless road trip that included a 9-1 drubbing at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks. Well it seems that the foul mood followed the Canucks back home.
The Canucks and Flames decided to begin Saturday night's nationally-televised game with a line brawl seconds after the opening faceoff. The Canucks didn't seem particularly happy that the Flames started the game with their fourth line (the Hit Squad line) and coach John Tortorella quickly line-matched. The gloves dropped and before you know it fists were flying.
Two Canucks defencemen got misconducts and both teams racked up more than 140 penalty minutes in the brief exchange. Fortunately goalies Roberto Luongo and Karri Ramo stayed put.
The rest of the first period stayed mean with fights flaring up and misconducts for Vancouver's Zack Kassian and Calgary's Shane O'Brien.
At the end of the first period, Canucks coach Tortorella, ever the voice of calm and reason, went over to the hall outside the Calgary Flames locker room and looked like he was ready to throw a few punches.
Puck drops, then....

Here’s the explanation of how the game ended up starting with goons versus goons.
“I see the starting lineup, I know the other guy across the bench,” Tortorella said, in explaining why he put his tough guys out to start the game after seeing the Flames opening lineup. “It shouldn’t be in the game, I don’t want it in the game, but I have to protect my team.
“So all the pundits and all the people pissing and moaning about it, they don’t have a clue what a locker room is about.”
The game got off to a violent start when both teams iced their fourth lines for the opening faceoff. Defenceman Kevin Bieksa took the opening draw for Vancouver and a line brawl broke out as soon as the puck was dropped.
Hockey Day in Canada turned into Fight Night.
Calgary Flames boss Brian Burke has been adamant that he wants more grit, more gusto and more hostility from this rebuilding bunch, and he got all that and more in Saturday's scrap-fest against the Vancouver Canucks.
There was a line brawl just two seconds after the opening faceoff.
now that's faith in your feetballs team, when you get a tatoo of the Seahawk & it reads underneath "Super Bowl XLVIII Champions" on your arm.
does someone have inside info or a magic wand.
Maybe in a swimming pool!! I did have misspent youth though playing snooker (not pool) Haven't played in a while and it is hard to find a place with an actual snooker or billiard table. I do remember sucking really badly last time I played; but would love to play again.
well i can see a talking to by the coach for Seattle. this doesn't look like the same team that has played so well before hand. the 9ers are running right thru the defense.
Spartacus, you need to yell at your team louder.
