BTW I would like to applaud The H Team for the Twitter style Team Canada hockey game play by play today! It was some of the best stuff on here! Thanks to my Habs friend The H(abs) Team for doing something unique and innovative as she put in some of her own remarks as well! Well done and loved it!!

On this day in 1965, the death of beloved film comedian, writer and director Stan Laurel. Born in Ulverston, his career began in British music halls and as an understudy for Charlie Chaplin. He eventually moved to the U.S. where his film career began and he met Oliver Hardy - first appearing together in a silent film called "The Lucky Dog" in 1921. They officially became a team six years later when they appeared together in the film "Putting Pants on Philip" and would go on to appear in as many as 107 films together becoming one of the most popular comedy duos of the 20th century.

Note to self - when attempting to make beignets, make sure the yeast is active (& not on strike) and there's enough chocolate around. Must now figure out how to get chocolatey/oily/batter-y splatter off the ceiling (cold batter plus hot oil equals kaboom-ish). Debating whether to have a daiquiri before I clean up the mess or take a nap. Think I'll sleep on it & figure out a plan in the morning. Next time I'm using carob chips and letting the brats clean up the mess.

Finally the Daytona 500 has ended after a 6 hour rain delay & Jr wins his 2nd 500 in 10 years. WooHoo!
