Happy sunny Tuesday everyone.
Today marks the 34th anniversary of Elvis’s passing. The King would be 76 if he were still with us. Who remembers where they were when they heard the news?

I was in my neighbour's car as we left the Sheridan Nurseries tree farm in Oakville. Working in the fields there was my summer job throughout high school, and university was two weeks away. It seems like yesterday and like a million years ago. Elvis was the same age as my Dad.

Received some Sad News today.
Around 7:30pm yesterday (Edmonton, AB), my Cousin passed away.
He had been Battling with a Brain Tumour for Several Years and had seemed to be on the Mend.
*seizure*
He was the 3rd Oldest of my Generation (I am the 2nd Oldest).

My Mother cannot hide the Tears in Her voice and I am finding it hard to Focus.
Neither of us can make it out There for the Funeral, which adds to the Pain.

R.I.P. Garnet...
You are already Missed!!!!

H Team & Mmmme – Happy to hear you had a good trip, pictures are awesome! The one and only time that I was in NY, I spent the day in Harlem. Not exactly scenic, except for the Apollo Theater.

that was last year's tour. this year was brooklyn, last year was harlem. the apollo theatre was under going renos, but we were able to have an inside tour, plus learn the history. some of the ladies in our actually were able to go on stage & do performance numbers for the rest of us in the audience.

Deep-fried cola debuts at CNE

TORONTO, Ont. - When the CNE opens Friday, you won't be able to buy deep-fried Coke. Instead, you will have to settle for deep-fried cola.

Coca-Cola told the concession owner he couldn't use the name "Coke" because the company didn't want to be associated with anything deep-fried.

The Toronto Star reported the 16-ounce cup of deep-fried cola comes topped with whipped cream and has about 1,000 calories.

It will sell for $5.97, plus tax.

You can use this to wash down deep-fried Oreos and deep-fried pop tarts.


Sounds pretty healthy eh?

Here is a great sandwich recipe from the New York Times that contains no meat.......so it is healthy and meant for everyone.......I am going to try it this week.......Enjoy

Greek Salad Sandwich

Greek salad on a bun makes a wonderfully satisfying meal. The English muffins absorb the sweet and tangy juices from the salad without becoming soggy.
2 tomatoes, ripe but firm, 1 thinly sliced, 1 cut in small dice
2 ounces cucumber, thinly sliced
2 ounces green pepper (about 1/2 small pepper), seeded and thinly sliced
1 slice red onion, cut in half, rings separated, rinsed and drained (optional)
1 tablespoon crumbled feta (about 1/2 ounce)
1 to 2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint
1 teaspoon sherry vinegar or red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
Salt and freshly ground pepper (optional)
2 small (3 1/2-inch) whole-wheat English muffins, lightly toasted
2 teaspoons mayonnaise
Dijon mustard (optional)
1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomato, cucumber, green pepper, onion, feta and mint. Toss with the vinegar and olive oil. Season if desired with salt and pepper.
2. Spread the bottom half of an English muffin with half the mayonnaise. Layer half of the sliced tomato on top. Top with half the Greek salad mixture. Spread the top half of an English muffin with mustard if desired, and place on top of the salad. Press down, cut in half and serve. Alternately, you may wrap the sandwich in plastic and refrigerate. Use the remaining ingredients for a second sandwich.
Yield: Two sandwiches.
Advance preparation: The sandwiches will keep well for a day. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and place in a bag. Keep cold if possible.
Nutritional information per serving: 258 calories; 2 grams saturated fat; 1 gram polyunsaturated fat; 4 grams monounsaturated fat; 8 milligrams cholesterol; 34 grams carbohydrates; 7 grams dietary fiber; 352 milligrams sodium (does not include salt to taste); 8 grams protein
