According to the experts, we're all right! Except Rocky.

The colour periwinkle doesn't exist because:
ALL colours are in your head.
Colour isn't something that exists in the world. Different wavelengths of light exist and can be observed but colour is something we make up inside our heads.

I truly find this fascinating. Not just how we process what we see, but also how quickly this went viral. As a total package, you can't beat it:
+ part fashion
+ part social study
+ part viral phenomenon
+ part photo conditions
+ part inner brain function
+ and a whole lot of this-is-way-cooler-than-the-spinning-girl.
For those not wishing to devote an hour (or so) to surfing and researching - take it from the designers themselves - regardless of what you see in the photo, the actual dress is blue and black:
Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.

You may be correct but I know I see colour. I see periwinkle and teal, cobalt, slate, vermilion, puce, chartreuse, burnt sienna, navajo white, ochre, mustard seed, lavendar, sunfower, violet, cerulean, salmon and a whole lot more - including that famous American Graffitti colour which is a cross between piss yellow and puke green.
Then again, this is the inside of my head:
Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.
