COYOTE in the ravine!!
With all the green space around my house, I accept and utterly enjoy the wildlife. But there's so much to enjoy - deer reaching over my low chain link fence eating the apples right off the trees. bunnies playing havoc with my spring garden and then playing hide & seek with the hawks, ducks coming in for a landing on our Rouge swimming spots (well, dog swimming spots if nothing else). If the odd coyote pops by - no biggy. Its not hard to remember you are living in their space.
But here? This is a small tract of land with development on all sides. The only reason its not developed is because it is a flood plain. So, I got Oggie back on his leash pronto, yelled and chased the coyote away. We continued and tried to enjoy our walk. But Oggie kept looking back at me - questioning me with his eyes about what he did wrong to be on his leash in the run around place. And I tried to drink in the scenery but found myself on coyote watch. So, we cut it short and played in the schoolground for a bit. Not as much fun as the ravine, but Oggie was satisfied - and I was satisfied that he (& I) were safe.
That damned coyote was NOT afraid.
