Police Targeting Distracted Drivers With Road Safety Campaign
Toronto police will be kicking off a road safety campaign today to coincide with the new rules and fines for distracted driving across the province. It will be a joint effort by Toronto Police, MTO, CAA & OPP.
About 40 officers will be targeting drivers in the GTA who use cellphones or other distracting devices while driving. Cops will be out on the 404, DVP and Gardiner, along with several major city streets.
As much as we'd like, I guess they can't win them all.
Salazar Outduels Price in Blue Jays' Loss to Indians
David Price with a rare loss as the Jays fell to the Cleveland Indians at Rogers Centre. A two run 7th inning by the Indians, erased a 2-1 Jays lead. The Indians added one more in the ninth to 4-2.
Still an impressive month for the Jays, with a 21 and 6 record for August. Game 2 of the series goes at the dome tonight at 7:07pm with Marco Estrada taking the mound.
Today Is....
Britain adopted the Gregorian Calendar in 1752. So, on the evening of September 2, 1752, the population of Britain and its colonies went to sleep and awoke the next morning to September 14th.
The changeover is also responsible for New Year’s Day being celebrated on January 1, as before it had been celebrated on March 26.
As a result of Calendar Adjustment Day, there was rioting in the streets by those who felt cheated, and demanded the eleven days back!
Won tickets last month for 4 all day ride passes to the CNE. The prize included 4 Ribfest dinners and 4 drinks. Spent all day yesterday at the CNE with the grandsons and had a ball. The youngest had to go on the rides with and adult so I volunteered. These kids have no fear. Close to losing my lunch a few times :( :). Totally exhausted today.
Went for my morning walk this morning but only saw 1 Rabbit and two squirrels. Hopefully this will still be a lucky combination. "Rabbit, Squirrel, Squirrel"
Good morning fellow Canucks!
Have a wonderful day.
Too bad, this wasn't posted yesterday. I needed a reminder that August had 31 days as I ended up turning up for work 25 hours early. I honestly thought it was already September!
Going to blame it on a crappy delayed flight from Tampa. Pretty creepy to be sitting on the plane and watching the pilot and grounds crew stand on a ladder and measure and take photos of a dent in the wing in the pouring rain.
Not a great flyer at the best of times, after no satisfactory answer from the air stewardess I spoke to the captain in the cockpit who assured me all was well. It still took 3 hours on the Tarmac before take off. not pleasant with a fully booked flight at 11 pm, with at least a dozen screaming kids, thunder, lightening and humidity and no food or drink on board or in the terminal....hence when we flew out at 1 am and I did not get home till 4:30 I got a little confused over the date.....
Heard Trudeau is looking at the same cut.
