Thank you all for your positive vibes and well wishes.

It was a VERY long day yesterday, but bottom line, all went well, actually, better than just well.
I was @ the hospital for almost 8 hours.
- they x-rayed, removed the cast, waited to see the surgeon, he wanted a 2nd opinion, so waited to see another; @ that point, I was sure they were going to operate.
- saw the 2nd surgeon, and he ordered an M.R.I.
- finally, the conscious was - NO SURGERY
- next, to make things even better, they both were in the room, and agreed that I could have a air cast / boot; I can start to weight-bear, no more than 5 - 10%
- finally, I waited for the physio; she went through a number of exercises; they gave me a requisition to start physio
- follow up appt. in 6 weeks, but which time I should be @ the point I can be 100% weight-bearing, but only with the boot on for support
- they put the boot on, waited for my ride & got home about 5:30
I called the dog sitter to bring Jake home, call a friend to tell her about my day, and she picked up some dinner, so we ate & visited till about 8:30.

Believe it or not, I laid down to rest just before 9, and didn't wake up till 8:30 this morning.

Anyhow, I thought I'd catch you up, and thank you again.

Well, hello everyone. I had a function to attend today & I quite enjoyed it. Related to the genetic disorder that I am afflicted with that is also related to my sarcoma-cancer. It is always good to connect with positive people who are in a similar boat. Do you know that I am very lucky to be here?
My week off has begun. No trips downtown. No drugs. How nice!

Just received a pic of @Lee03 zip lining in Costa Rica. Looks like she's enjoying herself, all tanned & screaming down the Borinquin mountains. You go girl! Have fun!

I too saw that picture of Lee zip lining. It looks like she had a lot of fun.
One day I might try it out, but I should probably lose some weight or else I may snap the line.

Tonight I was in Milton for my son's hockey game. The parking lot was about as slippery as the ice on the rink.

that's great ! she works really hard and deserves a great vacation!

i'd love to go to costa rica. friends of ours have been several times and hope to retire there.

Pura Vida!!!

Costa Rica was amazing!! We stayed at the Riu Guanacaste and had an amazing trip!!! We met so many wonderful people and I'm sure that we will reconnect with a few of them!!

We flew Sunwing and we always go to the briefings the morning after we arrive anywhere... Sometimes they will do a draw at the briefing (which they did) and hubby won an full day excursion to the Borinquen mountain resort and spa, so we only had to pay for one. This excursion included horseback riding up the mountain to a beautiful (cold water) waterfall then to the start of the zip lining. After zip lining we went for an amazing lunch and then to the natural sauna that was built over a bubbling volcanic mud pot, then to the mud bath and hot springs... They say that the mud bath makes you look 20 years younger, so I'm not sure if any of you would recognize me now....

The day was amazing!! I never dreamed that I would ever do the zip lining (and I was really scared), but it was so amazing that I'm hooked now and would do it again in a minute. There were 12 lines (with the first 2 as "practice" runs). I think seeing the first one that didn't look too bad is the only reason I went!! Once you start, there is no turning back so I was committed.... The third line was across the canyon and was quite long (IMHO). I kept saying OMG and Holy Sh*t the whole way across... I must have been really white because the guy that caught me at the other end asked me if I was OK.... It was super scary!! By the forth and fifth run, I was starting to feel more comfortable and actually looked down to the top of the treetops... Someone said we were 400 ft (or meters - I can't remember) up above the canyon and there were about 2 miles of zip lines...

Hubby and I, with another family, also rented a van and driver for a private tour of some of the local sights on another day... We stopped in 3 little towns and then went to a beautiful beach (Tamarindo Beach) for lunch and a swim in the ocean. That was an amazing tour day too!!

The beach by our hotel was black volcanic rock / sand and HOT!!! We saw some monkeys and a lot of iguanas and even a termite nest. We were looking for sloths, but didn't see any... It was a busy, but really fun vacation... The pool bar was our daily "hang out"

Costa Rica is beautiful!! Back to "the grind" tomorrow!!
