I believe there is balance in the underlying physics of our world.
With a horrid stench the hog dies to give us the sweet morning glory of fresh bacon frying in the pan.
Abattoirs have significantly shaped Toronto. We weren't nicknamed Hog Town because we had flower markets...
Interesting read about Sofina taking over Fearmans, bodes well for the plant.
I grew up very close to Dad's and Bicks.
As young adventurers we scoured the bins and back yards of ALL the Ellemere Road and Progress Ave. factories.
We found sooo many treasures. I had my own little pill bottle with a decent amount of mercury, I collected.
Our base and "fort" was in the woods at McCowan and Ellesmere. Long before the Town Center Developments.
Progress only went to Brimley Road back then and farmland everywhere else.
McCowan over the 401 circa 1961, looking west, you can just make out the Kennedy road interchange in the upper left corner.
The cookies from the side door at Dad's were great! The smell from Bicks not so much, but I still love pickles!
WHAT MAKES SOMETHING SMELL BAD, ANYWAY?
Here is a decent read: http://www.science20.com/chemical_et...ts_view-110206Last edited by Mechman47; Fri, Jan 29th, 2016 at 07:23 PM.

I so love the classic cars they're selling on the Barrett-JacksonClassic Car Auction.
Great to dream, but would be better if I could afford to buy.

Sitting in my "Man Cave" in the basement today with a good supply of hard word and a blazing fire from my air tight fireplace insert and lavishing at 80 degree temperatures, it was a terrific afternoon and evening with little else to do but attend to my hobbies.
It was a great day for me. Hope that everyone else had such a pleasant afternoon and evening.
Cheers all!!!

The perfect day for man-caves.
My wonderful wife bought me the most comfortable and well made Norwegian Stressless recliner and ottoman for Christmas which arrived finally last night.
It now has pride of place in the basement "man-cave" in front of the fireplace and HD soccer TV (next to the dog's chair when he deigns to join me)

You have described my M5 Perfectly.
Best car I have ever owned and driven and that includes my 1994 5.7 L Camaro Z-28 with only 105,000 km on it.
It is a pleasure to drive and enjoy this M5. It is in pristine condition and has never seen the snow or salt of Southern Ontario
Cheers!!Last edited by zfurman; Sat, Jan 30th, 2016 at 01:00 AM.
