A Yelp employee wrote an open letter to the company's CEO saying she didn't make enough money and got fired.
On Friday, 25-year-old Talia Jane, a customer service employee at the Yelp subsidiary Eat24, posted an open letter to Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman on the social media platform Medium. In the open letter, Jane said that she couldn't afford to live in San Francisco, one of the most expensive cities in the country, on minimum wage.

Good morning, everyone. :)
Yesterday morning started off well - I got short-listed to serve on a jury. I'll find out tomorrow morning whether or not I get to be involved in a coroner's inquest.
Then things went downhill. :(
My Mom has had a dry cough since just after Xmas. She finally went to her doctor (we won't go into why I would like nothing better than to give the twit a punch in the nose) who diagnosed her with a collapsed lung and sent her to emergency. Thankfully, bff had volunteered to take her to the doctor, so she wasn't alone & I got updates on what was going on. She's still in emergency, waiting for some tests. I feel soooo guilty that I'm not there with her, but I'm not allowed anywhere near a hospital unless I'm the patient. Sigh. I prefer being the one being poked and prodded - way less stressful.
I'm just waiting until the day shift has had a chance to be brought up to speed, so I can get an update (I called earlier).
Hope everyone has a wonderful day (mine will get better once my Mom can escape and go home to her own bed). :)

The Portuguese man-of-war is not a jellyfish; it's actually a colony of organisms working together, called a siphonophore. In the case of the man o' war, there are four organisms, each with a separate function: trapping prey, digestion, reproduction and floating.

Prey is trapped by tentacles dangling an average of 30 feet below the water, although they can reach as long as 165 feet. The tentacles deliver a sting that paralyzes and kills small fish and crustaceans. The man-of-war's sting is very painful to humans and causes large welts, but is rarely deadly.

The familiar bubble is the flotation device, keeping the man-of-war at or just above water level. National Geographic reports that although the man-of-war has no means of self-propulsion, it can deflate its bubble to briefly submerge and avoid a threat from the surface. It is the shape of the bubble, similar to a Portuguese warship from the 1700s, that gives the creature its name.
