Deep Purple’s Ian Paice Says His Mini-Stroke Forced Recent Cancellations

Paice shared the story behind the cancellations via a post at the band’s official site, saying he wanted to fill fans in while stopping “all the speculation and rumors” that started after the dates failed to happen. As it turns out, he had no choice but to cancel.
“On the morning of the 14th of June, I woke up to find that the right side of my body was feeling numb and I could not control my right hand and fingers,” wrote Paice. “So I had myself admitted to hospital where I was diagnosed with having suffered a ‘mini stroke,’ or TIA. The hospital staff in Stockholm were amazing and started my treatment straight away. After both CT and MIR scans there was found to be no serious or permanent damage. As of this moment all I am suffering is a slightly numb right side of the face [and] a tingling sensation in my right hand. My dexterity in the hand is coming back quickly and I fully expect to recommence touring next month.”
Deep Purple’s current tour commitments keep them off the road until July 5, when they touch down in Turkey and begin a run of shows scheduled to keep them moving throughout Europe until the end of the month. With a new album imminent, Paice will likely be spending plenty of time on the road in the near future — and he insisted he’ll be ready.
“Now I have a set of tablets which have to be taken every day to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” he concluded. “So sorry for not being able to play for you. And I’m sorry for myself! These are the first shows I have missed with DP since its formation in 1968. Thanks to all the people who have shown concern and sent their best wishes.”

Good Morning all
Happy Saturday everyone!Attachment 313872
Good morning my Q friends. Happy Caturday.
Good morning, everyone. :)
Going to spend the weekend having fun, which will involve sharing beer on a patio with my favourite cat. OK, so Quincy will not be partaking & it's root beer, but ya get the idea. :P Can't let him have too much fun or Lily dog will be jealous. ;)
I'll try to pop in before Monday's appt with the oncologist, we'll see how much toll the root beer takes on me. :P
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Sun & heat here, so life is good. :)
My wife Andrea found out that our dog (a Schnauzer) could hardly hear, so she took it to the veterinarian. The vet found that the problem was hair in the dog's ears.
He cleaned both ears, and the dog could then hear fine. The vet then proceeded to tell Andrea that, if she wanted to keep this from recurring, she should go to the pharmacy and get some "Nair" hair remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month.
Andrea went to the store and bought some "Nair" hair remover.
At the register, the pharmacist told her, "If you're going to use this under your arms, don't use deodorant for a few days."
Andrea said, "I'm not using it under my arms."
The pharmacist then said, "If you're using it on your legs, don't use body lotion for a couple of days."
Andrea replied, "I'm not using it on my legs either. If you must know, I'm using it on my Schnauzer"
After a few seconds of silence, the pharmacist said, "Well, then stay off your bicycle for at least a week."
Happy Caturday Q sters,
This weather is awesome, gotta love it.
Have fun Andit. Hope things go well Monday.
I'll be outside all weekend long. Tomorrow, my brother, sister & i are BBQing super for my Dad (& Mum). We all have items we're bringing, so Dad can enjoy his day.
Hope all you fathers all enjoy your day tomorrow & are able to spend it with family.
So yesterday I made the trek down to Princess Margaret for a consultation with Ophthalmology As you know, I have had problems with my vision due to cataracts. I was of the impression that they were going to deal with the cataract on my left eye & as a result, I have no real vision in it other than a blur of shapes & a major sensitivity to light. To make a long story short, I was told by the team at PMH to cancel my ophthalmology appointment out my way b because they wanted me to be seen by one of their people.
I discovered yesterday that they do not do cataract surgery there. (They only deal with cancers of the eyes when it comes to surgery) I was really upset, ticked that I had no resolve. I was lead to believe that my situation would be dealt with. They were very apologetic & said that someone had made a mistake by sending me to the Eye Clinic at PMH.
So now I have to begin the process all over again. Waiting to get into seeing a special & start the process all over again. I got very emotional & let them know that I was very cheesed off. Not their fault, not my fault, but a lack of communication certainly plays into this.
So, I got in touch with my local optometrist & they will be making the referral for my to the guy I was going to see in the first place.
I hope this jumbled blurb makes sense.
Signed,
Blurry Loocie
Happy Caturday and Saturday Everyone!
Heading down to the beach very shortly.
Sorry about your disappointment Loocie, hope you can get an appointment very soon and get your eyes fixed......must be very frustrating to say the least...
