Having an awesome time in NFLD. Weather isn't warm, by any means, but comfortable -18-22 degrees. Had a good time in St John's touring the town. Too bad it was too foggy to see Signal Hill. Got screeched tho & listened to some excellent music.
Today we drove up the east coast, stopping at Brigus to see Hawthorne Cottage, home of Captain Robert Bartlett, polar explorer & international statesman. From there, headed further north to Harbour Grace, where Amelia Earhart began her solo flight across the Atlantica in 1932. Then headed to Heart's Content, to the cable station, where the 1st successful transatlantic cable was received in 1866. The last stop is in Clarenville, where we will spend the night. Had a great dinner of clam chowder, garden & pasta salads, stuffed chicken, roast beef, mussels, steamed veggies & dessert. Going to walk for a bit, then hit the sack. Tomorrow we start early to get to Taillights for a wine tasting, the entrance to Notre Dame Bay, Long Point Lighthouse & some Viking villages.
