    They called me yesterday afternoon. I felt like posting here right away, but what if they call a few people and make the final draw Friday morning? I didn't want to jinx myself.

    Contest rules says a 3 nights stay, with concert on Friday, June 10. I'm hoping to leave Thursday and come back Sunday, but I have no further details. Someone will contact me. When they do, I'll let you know...

    OK, better get back to work before I get in trouble...

    Morning all, and what a great start to a Friday, with our very own db band winning the Rush tickets!!!....our family of winners grows ever bigger!!!
    ....sorry, haven't really been around for a bit, so a warm welcome to all the new family members....this is a great place to be.....
    ....on the bummer side of things, after having a great time in Vancouver with my sister, I get back here and discover my dad isn't doing all that well....before I left for Van, I know that he had gangrene ( a complication of diabetes) halfway up his foot.....that was about a month ago....since then, it has spread up to just below his knee, so he needs to get an amputation done NOW, or it will be harder to try and fit a prosthetic above the knee....it's all pretty gruesome, but yesterday, after his Cardiologist appt, he was kept in Scarboro Gen, so hopefully something will be done....he doesn't do industrial painkillers well, they send him squirrelly, and his failing kidneys just can't process the stuff out of him fast enough....
    ....he's in a bad way, and has hit a huge pothole in his life....the pain keeps him in tears, and he plays the answering machine message over and over again, cos my bro, who died last year, made the message for him, so he doesn't want to erase the last trace of my brother (and believe me when I say it's hard to listen to when I call and he's not home, and I get the message machine)...
    ...anyway, if the amputation is a go, who knows if my dad will survive it, his heart is a mess....he's a DNR on his medical chart ( Do Not Resuscitate), and since he's in such mental and physical pain, my sis, his girlfriend and myself all secretly hope he doesn't make it.....his quality of life is pretty much out the window...he can't play in his band anymore, he can't golf, all he does is sleep and hurt, so really...what's the point?.....
    ....sorry to send such a downer to the group on a Friday, I hope you don't mind....so if I am not about for a while, just know I will pop in when I can....I repped till I got jailed, but the warden let me out on compassionate leave, he's not such a bad guy....congrats again to db band, hope you have a blast, I'm sure you will.....later gators.....TR
