Just got off the phone with the shelter public liaison person. She confirmed that we are but one of a few apps for the pup ; she also said that we were the strongest candidates and that she was recommending that we be moved to the top of the list .

The final decision is not up to her, but as she has done all the interviews, I'm sure her recommendation holds a fair bit of weight.

As soon as I hung up, this Grand Funk Railroad song popped into my head. (And to paraphrase HG's earlier post, but don't ask me what I did yesterday!)

I'm getting closer to my home .............

Went to our buddy's place to listen, his Dad had the best stereo...
and his older brother the best smoke...
Ross is still selling smoke, OK real estate in Florida, don't know about the rest of the family.
Can't find a picture of the Sam's there, but some will remember the Theater.

Watt's Restaurant was pretty good too. I had an old boyfriend break up with me there & then saying that he thought that we should both see other people. (ha!) Then he said that we could still go to the movies. What a terrible thing to do to a girl eh? I phoned my Dad & he came to pick me up. Thank heavens for Dads!

Well, how can I not offer birthday greetings to a wonderful gal like Cheryl?
I hope she goes out on the town dolled up in her finest apparel,
That is quite a milestone to reach when you join the Elite Club 50,
So many reasons we have to smile & some secrets that are rather nifty,
What an era to grow up in with memories to sail along beside us,
Those guys that we used to weep over who were never worth the fuss,
The fashion trends, the music, peasant dresses & funky shag hair cuts,
The days when the guys word jeans clinging snuggly to their butts,
No debit cards, no cell phones & certainly no sunscreen,
& windows were just something that your mother made you clean,
You may have watched Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley & maybe Phil Donahue,
Before the days of “reality” shows or Oprah & The View,
I’m sure your friends could share some stories of some of the things you did,
I think that you were the kind of girl, always on a level grid,
It’s been so nice to get to know you here & how I love your camping stories,
Your ding-dong brother, your Mom, your friends & of course your offspring too,
I just know that all of us who hang out here just think the world of you,
Happy Birthday my friend (who got 14” in the divorce)
I wish I could offer some solid advice, but I’ve yet to finish the course.

Watts is still there! I went there when I was a kid, and now I take my son there.
