good morning

i see rain so remember your umbrella. personally i like one in the style
of the queen. clear plastic --- but trim and handle matches
the colour of your outfit.

have a birdfeeder on a sheppard's hook near the russian olive tree,
and yes this narrative is going bad.
lying out on the lounger with miss lilly, reading the author ian rankin,
i noticed that darn mad cat sneaking towards the feeder, oh goody
no birds anywhere to be seen, and besides she has a bell on collar so,,,
she jumps up and grabs something from the back of the feeder,
holy crap - it's 3 ish feet up.

so now i jump up too, maddy no maddy no and she runs into the backyard
with a tiny bird in her mouth, and of course the more i yell the farther
she goes, ppphhhttt.
can't see her anywhere, and i'm thinking well that's that.

minute later maddy walks by having circled the house, and yes
still had the poor bird in her mouth. so i jump again maddy no
for crying out loud drop the bird. and once again gone gone.

of course this repeats and this time the bird does end up in the garden
looked so bad, i thought i'd have to kill it somehow,,,,
but got it into a bowl added seeds grass leaves and some water.
and put polysporin on the wound (had some advice).
s/he was fiesty chirped enough that the cats knew something
interesting was happening and tried to peck me.
left s/he in the now bird hospital aka bathroom, but an hour later
the poor birdy had died, sighing.
s/he was a very young sparrow.

lifted the hook up a bit but still, thinking i'll just look for the
foxes to be around and let maddy out - yes i am miffed,
and never would do that, just wishing she'd understand
the threat. extra damn it.
damn that cat and her instinct,,,,

more sighing,,,

shuttting up and going back to hoping everyone wins logic

Good morning, everyone.

I'm off to a BBQ today. My friend's niece & nephews are visiting from out of town & are dying to meet the critters, so off we go. I think Quincy cat will have a good time being kissed & cuddled by the little girl, while I'm sure the boys & the adults present will be entertained by Lily dog. My friend has already asked me how many burgers to set aside for them. I suspect someone will be very happy today. Here's hoping the rain goes away, so they can join us (the resident pet is not a fan of other creatures so the house is off-limits).
