Judiciary upheld the prohibition of mistreatment and consumption of cat at the Festival of the #Curruñao held each September in the District of San Luis de #Cañete.
The ruling also condemns the cats 'race', competition of the popular feast of Santa Efigênia which was running the cats throwing Fireworks while they remained tied to a string. (Translated by Bing)
If you wonder why I'm beginning to not think much of the human race - this is one of the many reasons.......what is wrong with people???????

O.K. so another good reason why Rocky doesn't like cats.
(beside them being totally useless)
Cats kill more than one billion birds each year
New estimate suggests hunting felines take bigger bite than expected out of wildlife

Domestic cats kill many more wild birds in the United States than scientists thought, according to a new analysis. Cats may rank as the biggest immediate danger that living around people brings to wildlife, researchers say.
SMALL HUNTERS, BIG PROBLEM Cats may be killing far more birds each year than previously thought, as well as substantial numbers of mammals, says a new analysis based on hunting studies from around the world (cat shown with European robn).
America’s cats, including housecats that adventure outdoors and feral cats, kill between 1.3 billion and 4.0 billion birds in a year, says Peter Marra of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Washington, D.C., who led the team that performed the analysis. Previous estimates of bird kills have varied, he says, but “500 million is a number that has been thrown around a lot.”
Cats kill primarily for fun (their hunting instinct) rather than for food,(they're over-fed as it is).
The unrestrained proliferation of cats has created this problem.
Cats really serve no useful purpose other than than love people bestow upon them
which could better be reserved for more deserving people of the human kind.
This cat (and dog) mania really needs to end.
That's my opinion (which isn't a very popular one) but mine seldom are.

Hey watch it Rocky - Cats are not useless - they are very sweet loving furry beings. Yes, they do kill birds and mice which is unfortunate but that is their instinct - all animals have an instinct......
Cat and dog mania does not need to end - as long as the people who have them treat them right it is fine!!!!

What a beautiful week-end!! I was very sad to come home....
I bought another ( ) new kayak this spring and went for a fantastic kayak ride yesterday.... "my" baby geese hatched (4 of 5 eggs) and mama and papa have left the island!!! The baby geese were very cute, but I'm not fond of what they leave behind.... We'll see if they come back next week-end to settle back in....
