Halton Parents Concerned About Unlocked School Doors During Job Action

Some parents of elementary school students in Halton Region are expressing concern after learning that job action on the part of school workers means that doors at schools will remain unlocked. Halton District School Board confirmed in an email that doors would remain open at elementary schools because secretarial staff will not unlock them for visitors as part of their job action.

Conservatives Lead as NDP Slips

The latest election poll is out and once again it appears the Tories are out in front. Amongst the three main parties, the latest Mainstreet Technologies poll shows the Conservatives with a substantial lead at 37% support, 9 points up on the Liberals at 26%. The NDP are sitting at 24%.

Blue Jays To Open Playoffs With Pair Of Afternoon Games

The sun will still be high in the sky when the Blue Jays launch into their first playoff game in 22 years. The MLB has offered a rough sketch of the Jays' schedule in the week ahead. The Jays welcome the Rangers at the Rogers Centre for the opener of the AL Division series on Thursday afternoon. Extended lunch breaks in Toronto Friday with Game 2 set for 12:45 p.m. The Jays and Rangers will rest Saturday before the best-of-five series picks up Sunday in Arlington at 8:10 p.m. If necessary, Game 4 would be played Monday in Texas, Game 5 Wednesday in Toronto.
