Tory Government Would Consider Ban of Niqab For Public Servants

Stephen Harper says a Conservative government would look at banning public servants from wearing the niqab. Harper said yesterday in an interview that it's "a matter we are going to examine." Harper says the "vast majority of Canadians" understand the Conservative government's decision to try to ban face coverings at citizenship ceremonies.

Maple Leafs Enter Season With Lowered Expectations

After a lengthy preseason, the puck drops tonight on the 2015/16 NHL season. There are 5 games on the go tonight, including the Leafs playing their long-time rivals --the Habs are in town. A free fan rally is being held outside the ACC starting at 4:30pm today. Expectations are certainly not high for the Leafs who lost their last 5 preseason games. In fact, Vegas betting has Toronto as 100 to 1 odds to win the Stanley Cup this season. The defending champions, the Chicago Blackhawks have the best odds to repeat at 6 to 1.

Astros Shut Out Yankees

Dallas Keuchel threw six scoreless innings and Colby Rasmus and Carlos Gomez had solo home runs as the Houston Astros shut out the New York Yankees 3-0 in the AL wild card game. The Astros will now meet the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS beginning on Thursday.
