Some places received freezing rain & others didn't. I had a bit on my car last night, but roads seemed ok. Haven't been outside yet to see if I side down the driveway, hopefully not. Next few days will be above freezing, so hopefully all this white stuff & ice will melt from previous storms.

Toronto roads slippery following mixture of ice and rain

It seems like there's a special weather statement for Toronto almost every morning but surprisingly there isn’t one in effect today. Because of some freezing rain overnight, there are already some bus cancellations to pass along -- Durham Student Transportation Services says buses are cancelled in zones one, two and three. So far there are no cancellations to pass along for the TDSB. It’s been a frigid February to say the least but Environment Canada's says there will be a bit of reprieve this weekend, albeit, short lived – we’re looking at a high of 7 degrees on Sunday.

Father accused of murdering 11-year-old Riya Rajkumar dies in hospital

The man accused of killing his 11-year-old daughter died in hospital the same day the girl was laid to rest. Peel Regional Police confirmed last night that Roopesh Rajkumar died in hospital, where he remained with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being taken into custody on Feb. 15. He had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Riya Rajkumar, who was killed on her birthday -- Valentine’s Day. Riya's funeral was held yesterday.

Leafs back at home tonight after 6-game road trip

The Maple Leafs will return to action tonight, looking to snap a two game slide as they take on the Capitals at Scotiabank Arena. The Leafs are coming off a 6-game road swing in which they went 3-2. Nazem Kadri likely won’t suit up for Toronto after suffering a concussion in St. Louis on Tuesday.

Peter Tork, Monkees bass player, has died at 77

Peter Tork, the bassist of the legendary band The Monkees, has died, his bandmate said on Twitter. Tork was 77.

A statement on Tork's Facebook page says in part, "It is with beyond-heavy and broken hearts that we share the devastating news that our friend, mentor, teacher and amazing soul, Peter Tork, has passed from this world."

TGIF Q sters,

It's the end of the week. I'm hoping it gets warm enough to melt some more ice on our work parking lot. Ask the landlord yesterday if they could put some salt around or scrap some of the ice off. He replied with, "It's warming up, so it will all melt by the weekend." Let's hope nobody slips, falls & really gets hurt till then. What a doorknob, putting saving the cost of someone to clean up the lot over people's safety.
