My First Diaper Cake!
UPDATE:
I just got an email and it turns out my cake has placed third in an online contest. I won a $25 Amazon gift card!!! I am so beyond stoked. Not bad for my first attempt!

The only downside is that you guys are really the only people I can brag to! The shower isn't until this Sunday, so I haven't been able to show it off to anyone else yet. I can't even post the facebook link on my profile, in case my sister sees it! Would hate to ruin the surprise....
=====================
I'm throwing a baby shower for my sister, who just welcomed her second daughter into the world. I'm not a big fan of your typical baby shower (you've seen one, you've seen them all!) so I decided to surprise her with a traditional English tea party. We're doing vintage mix-and-match cups and saucers, cute little serving platters, yummy springtime-inspired finger foods.
Of course, I HAD to do a diaper cake- but I didn't want to do a 'typical' one covered in toys. I wanted it to go with the theme, so I kept it a little more formal-looking (though I do plan on adding a little pink stuffed animal to it- just haven't found the right one).
Here's the finished result! Took two and a half packages of diapers. I got all the flowers, lace and faux pearls from Walmart and the local Everything For A Dollar Store. Between couponing and shopping sales, the entire thing cost me about $25 to make.
