Has anyone done a recycle bin walk?

I just moved to Cambridge so no one knows me yet ....maybe this Sunday night if I remember..lol!!

I live in Kitchener, I rifle my blue bins. Got 3 inserts, smartsource and got myself a coupon for free Yogurt, that someone didn't cut out. I got free Minute maid and free yogurt there before. I plan on figuring out my garbage days and checking around. There is not shame, I just tell people what I'm doing. We also take iCoke points and now you can get those Pepsi win every hour points too. If you are afraid, take your dog with you if you have one

I usually go after the smart source comes out because most people just throw the smart shopper in the bin still in the blue bag it comes in so I go early and just collect all the blue bags out of the recycle bins, no rifling through anything and it's really quick and easy!

I tried it once with another SC'er friend and had no luck, seems all bins in K-W we're emptied that day!! Guess we should scop out garbage days of certain areas first. I was soo nervous though, but I guess if I did it more often I wouldn't be such a chicken!!lol...

Its garbage day tomorrow in my area (near kiwanis park). Im soo tempted to go staring at all those boxes outside but im still too chicken... I might go waay later with my dog, prolly not though lol

I tried getting DH to come with me, but no luck.
I think I would do it if I had someone to come with.

So I did it!!! I did a recycle walk...well drive! I was in my moms neighbourhood and saw people had papers in grocery bags (is this helpful for the workers??). I was too chicken to rifle through them, so I grabbed whole bags and found a bunch of inserts! Since I didn't get any, I was super excited!

I managed to get the courage to do my first walk Tuesday night. After an hour I walked away with 10 P&G and Red Plum inserts and 4 Smart Source. Will probably go again next insert time

tonight is recycle night in my neighbourhood... im still chicken lol I already have 10 redplum and p&g's so I dont know if i should go :S

Is anyone interested in joining me to do a recycle walk with me tonight? I'm in a Cambridge and have done a couple walks but would feel a little more comfortable if I wasn't a lone female walking down dark streets at 11 at night. My imagination just gets too crazy and every sound becomes an axe murder recently escaped from the insane assylum out to get the first person he sees rummaging through a recycle bin :S Really, I'm not crazy, just way too imaginative with a DH who's main form of entertainment is too find creative ways to scare the carp out of me and which ever unfortunate child happens to be nearby

Hey sorry my little one was having a bad night so I did not get to even log on here! I am in the Cook homes area! But right near the Path that connects out area with Reids homes. I back onto the school! We should go next week if we are both available!
