Thread: question about pure protein bars

does anyone know if there is should be tax charged on pure protein bars.. i bought a few of them yesterday, using my FPC at Walmart and saw that they charged me tax
anyone knows if there any other stores that carry these bars and dont charge tax?? or should i talk to manager at Walmart regarding tax, as i still dont get it how can they charge tax on something that's free??

They charged me tax at Superstore.I forgot to read the coupon before I redeemed it.

I picked some up at WM and wasn't charged tax.

I have not gotten any this year, but last year I got them at the Superstore and was not charged tax.

I got 2 at Shoppers Drug Mart and did not pay tax.

Usually you have to point out to them that it INCLUDES tax. if you don't, you will most likely be charged the tax.
If a coupon doesn't specify, here in manitoba anyway, they have said to me you MUST pay the tax, its the law, we don't get reimbursed the tax etc etc (at least thats what canadian tire told me)...other places such as superstore (when i point it out that its a free item) they do analyse it but one guy is good, and he always says it includes the tax when he sees a FPC.
I think its different from province to province, and store to store unfortunately. Haven't really figured it out totally.

These bars are so disgusting! even without paying any tax & getting them 100% free they're not worth it
I am currently looking for coupons for non parishable foods or grocery coupons good until December to help with Christmas food helpers.

The store may be putting them in the supplement category, which would make them a taxable item. I find there are discrepencies sometimes from store to store for items like that which could fit into two different categories.
