I've had one put in two years ago call "Mirena" which is designed for women with bleeding problems. The Dr had a hard time putting it in and was cramping for three weeks afterwards but i've been fine ever since. The bonus is that i went from bleeding everyday to about three light days every 2 months

Yes, it's normal.
As explained to me by my gyne, years ago, it's the body trying to reject it (I know), but then it becomes accustomed and everything settles down.
The second and third time I had one put in, no problems.

Never had one. But they tend to do more harm that good for those in my family. Mum had a really bad infection from hers. I'm steering clear.
Also Lindsay and I were talking about the Nuva Ring the other day. If you bear down for a bowel movement you can push it out. I would hate to lose it in a public restroom. Too many cons to these methods.Remember that even though pets are here for such a short time they teach us things we would never be able to learn in many lifetimes on our own.

It was reccomended to me, cramps are normal however I cant' do it. A. I cant' stand gyn exams and B, it can cause PID. Too risky in my book. As well, the new ones with the hormones are safer, but the copper ones can allow fertiliation and then as the eg grows, it kills it. Worst case scenerio, you can continue a preganncy and have a baby born with the IUD stuck in it soemwhere. Too risky in my op. I am glad others are ahvign good luck with it becasue as for reliability it's at the top of the list.
THey do need to make soemthign for men. It should not be all in the Womens hands y a know. THey have made how many types for us, yet the men have nothing but Viagra and such.....Go figure.

Is the insertion covered by OHIP? I know the actual IUD isn't, but what about the procedure?

Non surgical vasectomies? hmmm Does it have anything to do with a mallet and a slab of concrete?
I had an IUD years ago and when I got pregnant my OB/GYN asked me if I wanted him to remove it. He said it wasn't necessary because all the stories you hear about it attaching to the baby were bunk. I did experience cramping with the IUD and the whole three years I had it my periods were fierce. I have no idea why after 3 yrs and some odd months it failed but I did get a beautiful little girl out for my trouble.
