Tragedy At One of Vale's Mines In Sudbury

so tragic... and to have so many accidents in such a short period of time... hopefully a greater effort is placed on workplace safety and precautions... I know every job has it's own risks and accidents can happen anywhere and anytime (not just in mines, though admittedly it's a little higher risk than some other jobs)... but there is no excuse for such a prevalence recently.

thoughts are with all who are involved, the families & friends of those who have died, but also the men & women who are out of work while this mess is sorted out

There is no interruption in salary/pay for those who are not at work.

I didn't catch the local news, has his name been released? My Dad was shift-boss in the reverbs many years ago and so proud of his men's safety record...this would have made him so sad....When are you expecting to be called back in...any idea?

No idea when to return to work. Hopefully soon.

I'm delivering a Marriage Certificate to a couple I married last week, but this morning she's been called to a Vale safety meeting...and hoping to hear more about what happened and why...With all the safety precautions in place, why? Just...why?!

So sorry to read of these deaths. Prayers offered for the families and all mine employees.

The shutdown of our 5 mines continues while Vale and the workers' union work together to review safety regulations in place as well as the recent accident..no word on how long the shutdown will continue...

Are they back to full staff, Kanewtz? Is anyone saying anything about the tragedy and how it happened?
