I managed to get a bunch of the recent P&G and Red Plum coupons from myself and some co-workers. I ended up collecting $550.00 worth of coupons which I sent off to the Guelp Food Bank. I also included some coupons from save.ca too. I've sent through numerous other coupons, but this time I decided to actually put a calculator to the test. So far, my running total is close to or over $1,000.00 and counting.

Remember, if you have any extra coupons you don't want, you can always send them to your local food bank.

Here's the address if you are interested and able to help.

I like this idea. I've been trying to figure out the best thing to do with coupons I don't need/want, and donating them seems like the easiest way (I don't have the time for trades, trains, etc right now).... love the idea of giving them to the food bank, they might know who will need it. I'll see if my local one will accept mine!

I was also thinking, I would really like to find some sort of centre that would give those coupons to struggling single parents... those are the people who might actually need the coupons AND could use them. If anyone has any ideas of places like this in Hamilton/Halton/Peel/GTA please let me know.

My local food bank that I volunteer at every week does take coupons. They don't use them to purchase food, but instead there is an area that people can take up to three items (it includes clothing, shoes, some toys, books), and there is an area where they can pick up coupons that people have donated/brought in.
Win Amazon Giftcards just by searching with Swagbucks! I've made over $700!!!

Ask me for more information on how

I'm glad to hear that some of the food banks take and appreciate the coupons! Also wonderful to hear that coupons are being donated...good for you! I took a huge envelope of coupons to our local women's shelter/food bank, and the receptionist turned her nose up at them. She took them, but it didn't sound as if it would be going much further than the "G" file.

Miabee, have you thought about the places that support teen moms? Where they get to stay in baby's first year in a supportive environment and learn life skills? I don't know if St. Martin's Manor on Mohawk Rd W in Hamilton does take coupons, but that is an idea. I have no clue about community services that support parents---but an idea might be to ask places that run soup kitchens about what kinds of coupons they could use for buying pantry needs for meals.

What cities need are community places to trade coupons. Since grocery stores have almost eliminated community notice boards, coupon exchanges are more based on personal contact or the coupon fairy strategy. Also, grocery staff are swamped with their work--very few would want to tackle a coupon bin to sort through after a couple of weeks or checking that Canadian coupons only were in the bin.

I had a bunch of coupons that I knew that I would never use. I donated them to my local resource center. They appreciated them. Maybe any of these places would like a field trip or lesson on couponing to save money?????
