I don't have any kids, but I have often thought how useful it would be to have a child to help me collect tearpad coupons while shopping!
I just redeemed my points for $50 in amazon.ca GC's!

For me it was when my youngest, Ds5, told his teacher.."my mom is a crrrraaazy couponer! She has coupons for EVERYTHING!! And now all of our food is free, so I can have more new toys!" (He was exaggerating just a little, lol) My kids search for tearpads whenever we go shopping, and they get SO excited when they find them that they yell "MOM! Coupons!!!" I sometimes wonder what the other shoppers must think, lol. It's a great way to keep them occupied while I shop, though.

I am always boggled by how many people just IGNORE coupons! They're buying item X, and it's like they're seeing a loonie on the shelf and just leaving it there. What's wrong with people?
Even when I offer them that loonie in the form of a coupon in the checkout line, sometimes they look at me like I'm some kind of nut job.

My dad likes to joke, but sometimes you can't tell when he's joking. He told me once that he accidentally threw all the flyers out right as the garbage truck pulled away...I lost it and was freaking out and was grabbing the phone to tell my mom she NEEDED to find extra copies of the paper, no questions asked! Then he started laughing at me.
Also when I was at my BF's house last time, we went to BK for dinner, and when we returned home he pulled coupons out of the bag and threw them on the counter. I actually yelled COUPONS and immediately tacked them on the fridge. We go out to fast food places a lot when I'm there, and they never have coupons around! I can't stand buying anything without a coupon.

OMG laugh at you?!?!? Couponing has literally changed my life! It has give me the ability to buy things I would have NEVER bought before like a brand new pair of glasses (FREE) "cool" foods my kids like/want and all the money I have saved in about a month went towards my new deep freezer which will be full in no time thanks to couponiong!! I also have my best talks with my 9 year old while we are out blue box diving. The chance to get stuff free or cheap and show my kids how good it feels to give to others, I could go on and on. The only time I laugh about couponing is when I see the tiny little total pop up on the cash register screen for my cart full of stuff lol.
I am so appreciative to this site and all the members who provide all this wonderful information and advice. I am especially thankful to you for introducing me to this wonderful world of couponing!
You are doing an amazing thing Leopakes!! All of you amazing couponers are!!
My niece asked me "why do you use coupons" I told her "to save money", She asked "why do you want to save money" I asked "why not?" Another student to teach the way!!Addicted to SC!

To me its like a new game. Coupons are loot. Flyers are maps. Angry cashiers are the monsters. My coupon binder and stockpile are my achievements.
Oh wow...I'm an addict now too.

My kids and I also think of this as a game - you made us smile!!
We thoroughly enjoy figuring out how to get the best deals.
I knew I was hooked when I read about everyone recycle walking and I got upset and jealous because I am the only person that lives on our road and it is an hours drive to get to town for a walk. I knew I was in total trouble when I realized that I will be going to Ontario in July and was more excited by the recycling walk opportunity than the fact that I will be able to visit my Mom!!!

I had a nightmare last night that I was at SDM and every time I tried to grab the cheap toilet paper, it was paper towels, napkins, etc, and I COULD NOT get ahold of that TP!!! Then the manager came over the loudspeaker saying, "There with be NO EXTREME couponers allowed at this location today!"...yeah, maybe it's going a bit far
Oh and my 4 year old made me 'coupons' for mother's day...cut up little pieces of paper with crayon scribbles
