You are actually paying for the peron's time to gather, sort and send them to you so it is perfectly legal. You will see this statement on the bottom of most of the auctions.

I think the more important question is "is it legal to sell coupons?"
When it comes to tearpad coupons is it legal to take them from a grocery store and then sell them? I don't think that was the manufacturers intention...

ebay and other sites are clear that the coupons are NOT being sold, just the time to collect. Most coupons state "not to be sold" on them.
Most likely manufacturer's are not trying to reach ebay sellers with tear pads. I'm pretty sure they realize that this is happenning given the amount of coupons on ebay especially in the states.

yes yor paying for the time to list , gether mail etc. So leagl. I used to sell alot on their site but not anymore. I should though maby after the strike. As far as the canadian coupons on there there isnt much good stuff and people sell like 14x of the same coupon tear pad. Never seen p&g on there.

I agree with the pp, even if it's legal, it's not cool. But people obviously buy them. So coupon sellers continue to hoard. Wonder why when new coupons come out the tear pads are gone in like, a nano second?

How is that different from trading for coupons on other websites?

Given how few ebay sellers there are, I doubt they're to blame for the missing tearpads. Extreme Couponing show has really impacted tear pads in two ways.
One there's at least a 4 to 10 fold increase in couponers that are very active collectors/users and wanting to build stock piles AND trade AND donate. Each week there's more people couponing casually and some more actively.
The companies didn't predict this I'm sure, so they're sending out same number of tearpads as last year.
I guess I'm more annoyed at someone selling the free bonus pampers gift to grow codes on ebay at someone selling "their time" to collect coupons which I think is bending the "rules".
But I'd say live and let live.

hmmm alot of good info. I am just confused by the whole thing. It seems wrong, but not all coupons say they cant be sold (p and g do) so i guess some people are just trying to make money on the side. im not looking into selling (dont worry about me hoarding coupons) but just wondering about all the people selling them on ebay

Selling something and trading are very different. Everyone ends up with coupons that they'll never use, but to sell them when you didn't pay anything for them seems wrong (at least to me) but what is the harm in trading with someone?! If they have coupons you want and they'll never use and vice versa, than have at it. Same as why not just give them away if you know you'll never use it! Not like it's coming out of your pocket and it's better than throwing them in the trash.
And I personally don't "buy" the, "paying for their time." Putting your collection together does take time, I know that. But having a newspaper dropped on your door for example, and you take a few seconds to cut the coupon out and post it on ebay.....that's silly.

Trading or selling - it is all the same to me. People are free to do whatever works for them. Coupons are "traded" for cash, free products, gift cards, points, pins, all of which have a cash value. Coupon "traders" put a value on their coupons just as ebay "traders" do. ebay and the coupon trading forum are two sides of the same coin. (my 2 cents).

I bought some yesterday off ebay 3 P&G inserts for very little. My hope is to use the coupons for the products and then donate to various food banks and womens shelters.
