Chocolate Cheerios Question!

My mom went to safeway yesterday to get her free box of chocolate cheerios, and when she was there, the manager told her that they will not take her coupon. They said that no, there's no way they're taking websaver coupons anymore. Are they allowed to do this? As far as I knew, safeway has always accepted websaver coupons, and can not just change there policy because they receive too many on one day. I was very disappointed to hear that, and because of that she did not get any free chocolate cheerios.

Try Sobey's on Henderon, they had both cereals. Have your mom check her coupon for an expiry date, they had tons of boxes yesterday.

did her coupon have a mailing addres on it for the store to redeem it? i talked to a lady at safeway on marion and she said some people were coming in with coupons that didnt have redemption addresses (she called it something else, but i asked her to explain and that's what she meant) so they werent accepting them. she said it was just a picture of the free advertisement or something, not an actual coupon. I dont know where they came from, but maybe that was the case?? i dont know. hopefully she found some somewhere!

Safeway seems to be a hit and miss. My experience has been that they wern't excepting internet coupons before and now they are. I was also told that they do not accept any FPC.... Strange

We ended up going to sobeys as our local safeway said they were not accepting FPC from the internet. I tried to show them the back of the coupon where it says they are MAILED out on behalf of manufacturers and to show them I didn't print it myself and that it was a valid coupon, but they just repeated that they were not taking internet FPCs.

that's too bad :( I am surprised Safeway is still in business with their prices actually!

I was reading that a lot of people didn't get their cereal because the stores ran out. My neice told me that the St Vital WM where she worked ran out of them but they had the Fiber ones left.

I think if there is free stuff on the line, it is best to get there early!!

Which location??

As far as I know they are to accept ALL MFG coupons, could have gone to WM / SDM and GT for the Cheerios, too late today though as it was only valid yesterday

I would call head office to verify, and if they say they do accept those coupons I would ask head office to phone that location and get your cheerios as you were denied on the 1 day only they were good for

It was only valid yesterday June 21st even though it had a July expiry so if she didn't go anywhere else its really pointless and the coupon isn't good anymore :(

Thanks for replying everyone! We sadly can't use the coupon anymore since it was only valid June 21st as peachykeen2007 said, but my mom will be calling the head office to check!
I think Safeway needs to figure out for sure what policy they're following and stick to it, instead of changing it and confusing everyone! Hopefully they clear it up to us.
And Peachykeen2007, it was the location on portage and cavalier, I've used internet FPC's there without a problem, so I was confused this time. It almost seemed like the manager was saying it just because they had already received so many that day!

That's what I thought, it is the only one I know of that won't take save.ca & websaver.ca coupons, don't know why, but definately phone HO cause it isn't right that all the other Safeways accept them. Manager told me that ALL safeways don't except them and that came from HO. I ended up going to the one by Polo Park and ask the manager there and he said that they definately take all coupons, and that they hadn't heard of anything like that. Think the manager at the Cavalier location just hates coupons

Check out GT behind Tim's at Westwood - they have a huge pallet, ask CS if it would be ok as the expiry on the coupon does say July

I got mine at the Sobey's at Unicity. I told the cashier to be expecting quite a few of those coupons on Tuesday. He told me he wasn't even sure he was supposed to accept it because it was an "internet" coupon. I thought he might have gotten websaver and save.ca confused with printables, but seeing what you guys are saying about Safeway not wanting websaver either.. maybe the cashier wasn't wrong.. maybe Sobey's is cracking down too.

I have had no problems at all with Safeway in Charleswood. They accept printables, websaver, save.ca. As long as there is a valid redemption address it's not an issue in the least.
I think ya'll are right about the Portage and Cavalier location.....it's a store problem.

I agree with you. It is a store problem. The Safeway on Regent is another one that does not accept "printed" coupons.

Safeway's prices have gone down for lots of stuff lately. Combine that with coupons and you get decent deals.

This was such a frustrating promotion. Why have an FPC that's only good for one day? I guess they really didn't want all of us to be able to use it. I missed out because there were none left when I looked.
