    Okay FRIENDS!

I'm getting mighty jealous of everyone's recycle finds!! lol.. but I have 1 question... how do you get the guts!! I want to so bad.. but I'm scared of my neighbors thinking I'm a raccoon and coming at me with a bat or something haha!

    Where do you look?
How do you choose who's house to go to?
What time do you generally go at?
Where do you typically find the best deals?.. houses...apartments...

Give the lil' Newbie some advice!

Thanks everyone! Your such an inspiration!!

no blue boxes in my town, but this is what I would do...

I would go early morning on the day of recycling pickup......ie. 6-7 AM, so you have daylight but not too many cars on the road,...a few blocks away from my house ......take gloves & a plastic bag to put all your stash in...dress for the weather....if people asked what I was doing, I would smile & say 'just looking for coupons.'

Apartment recycling bins are good if you're looking for inserts.

personally... i go late at night (around 11 30 pm) with two of my girlfriends... going wiht someone makes it less creepy and more fun. I just go to every house down my street and always bring a big bag with you! I look in all blue boxes in front of houses

I live in a townhouse complex where everyone sets out their recycling bins every Wednesday for pickup. So next Weds on my walk to the train, I'll leave 10 minutes early so I can peruse the recycling. I usually get between 4 and 6 extra inserts.

I'm giving away these coupons for free! It's updated fairly regularly.

I go to the paper recycle bins outside my local SARCAN. There are about ten bins there.
I try to go in the evening after the stripmall is closed, but before it gets dark. The bins are big, and really, I can only reach the top half of full bins. (Um, yes, I got stuck in a bin...twice) The odd person that goes by doesn't pay any attention to me. They must think I'm recycling.

I looked through some strangers blue bins on my drive home one day last week. It was creepy... It was dark...I was afraid someone would look out their window and ask me what I was doing. Also, I was so busy looking for bins, I just about ran into a truck at an uncontrolled intersection.

    This is what I do.

Hop on my bike to get great coverage in a short time.

    Anytime is the right time.

If someone is sitting outside of their home... I say hello, tell them what I am doing and just do it.

Wave, smile, say thanks, and say have a great day and move on to the next place.

Not one person has ever told me to get lost.

Oh yes... have a few plastic bags with me for my new found treasures and ride home quickly if I have so much to carry and resume where I left off.

    Hope this helps.
It is always a pleasure to meet you, until we meet again.
