Here's an interesting article on a woman banned from all US Walmarts for her behaviour tied in with extreme couponing. I've only watched the "Extreme Couponing" show a few times and have noticed how much hoarding some people do as a result of it & don't even need half of the things that they get for so cheap. Although, one person did donate a lot of the items. Perhaps, some of these hoarders can donate some of their stash to people that really need or can't afford it.
A lot of things people were buying were processed food and high calorie junk food with little nutrional value. Yes, I'm guilty of buying some convenience food, but I pretty well read almost all of the labels to check on the nutrition being offered and the amount of sodium & sugar in most foods whether which appliied to convenient and non-convenient food. I was giving my toddler ,who is finicky with his food, low sodium V-8 juice to help make-up for his lack of vegetables, and just realized that it was still pretty high in sodium content when you look at the break-down of the % in daily intake is geared towards an adult, not a 28 lbs child. Thank goodness I was only giving him 1/8th of a cup every few days. I've decided to hide the vegetables in his smoothies.
Since the foodbanks are always in need, perhaps we should donate a few items with some of the money we save through couponing.

From the article, I think she went about the recording wrong, it sounded to me as though she just wanted a video record of what was said so she could review it later (the article linked within that article said she wanted a 'better grasp' on the subject, which is why she recorded it). That's probably the BEST thing she could have done, to record it and review it and get it right so there'd be no hassle next time she tried to PM, but maybe she whipped out the camera without informing the guy she was talking to what she was doing. The manager sounded crazy though, the "pay full price or leave" thing is just LOL.

Why would you say that? Why are people judging others when u just joined this month! I'm so sorry to say this but please don't say things like that even if it's a joke or not. Why would people on SC be banned?

Sound like 2 Fools Both wanting their Own Way, with No one Compromising, Video or Not. Remember We are Not seeing the Whole Story, I am sure there are Two Sides, & this is just giving us the Results Via the Media (Sensationalism)

so I read the article...does anyone know what the change in the price match policy is? Is WM no longer price matching? Whatever the US chains do, Canada tends to follow.

I agree with Chantel that it probably has more to do with her recording the heated discussion than with couponing. Although I am sure most of us agree that it would be tempting as it seems their policy can change or be relaxed from cashier to cashier.
The tone of the article irks me as it makes it sound like those of us with coupons are crazy. Even worse if we carry them in a binder. Who cares if she shops at Walmart every day. Sometimes that is the only way to get the good deals especially if you go first thing in the morning.
I have not had any problems with my local Walmart or couponing yet (I'm just a newbie) but it all depends in how you act. For me it's not worth getting bent out of shape over 50 cents off but if required I will escalate my concerns higher. I am always polite but firm.

I don't imagine any Sc'ers will be banned from stores but there will be a limit to how many coupons we can use.
In my opinion this EC show has done nothing but give us couponers a bad name.I have gotten some dirty looks from cashiers at SD when using 10 to 15 coupons at a time though I have never had a problem at No Frills or any other grocery store in St.Catharines and the cashiers actually got excited and start talking to one another while putting my coupons through because they couldn't believe how much money I saved on my meat purchase.
I find the best thing to do when you run into a snippy cashier is to smile and at the end of your transaction and say "Have a bright sun shiny day" One in particular looks like she wants to rip my head off LOLLast edited by Roxy54; Wed, Jun 29th, 2011 at 09:04 AM.

A few SCers have posted about behaviour that, if it was my store, I would ban them from it, they are rare but sometimes it does happen.
Being banned from all US Walmarts makes me think there is much much more to this story. News reports say that she didn't return to WM but was leaving after this incident when the security guard informed her that she was already banned
On a side note, this link states that it was the competitor coupons as ad match (cents off vs having a price like the actual policy states) that was problem

On a side note, WM does have a policy against filming in their stores, a while back there was a story about them wanting to sue the website with the people who shop at WM images for breach of their filming rules. They don't even like you taking photos of the prices

I agree, I think it has much more to do with the filming. It's illegal to film anyone without permission. And if a store has a policy against it, it's even worse. WM is PRIVATE PROPERTY. You can't just go in and do what you want.
Guaranteed she was not "filming to have a better understanding". She likely was going to post it on the internet.
