Why does this P&G coupon say that on free product coupons, all taxes must be paid by consumer when CRA states there is no tax on free items?

Also, is there a store that does not charge tax on free items (in other words a store where I could use this coupon and not pay tax)? Thanks :-)

I think it depends...
If you have a FPC coupon for a product, you shouldn't have to pay tax.
If you have a BOGO coupon for a product, they charge you.
Don't quote me on it, it may be the other way around. That's what I remember experiencing, anyway
If you musy pay taxes on a FREE item, then it would be only fair that the product should count on your points accounts. For Example, lets say you have to pay for taxes on a free item on a special day like SDM 20X day, seems only right to me that the free item should count towards your $50.00 that needed to be spent in order to get the 20X shoppers points. well that is my opinion anyways.
I had a FPC for Cottonelle Wipes the lady at Rexall charged me tax
They didn't charge me - coupon states taxes included

Tax is included on FPC's at superstore-it's in their new coupon policy.
I've used my FPC's at No Frills, WalMart, Sobeys & SDM and when they have been FPC's I have never paid taxes.

I would print that out and take it with you for FPC you are not to pay the tax period and for BOGO you are only to pay the tax on the item you have to buy the item that is the GO FREE you dont pay tax on
I carry this with me at all times and I have NEVER paid tax on an item that I have a FPC for or the GO item on a BOGO coupon :) hope that helps!
if it has a price limit and the product plus taxes are more then the coupon limit then you pay for them but most fpcs say that the taxes are included in the coupon. at least most ive gotten. and for p&g ive onl;y ever gotten $ coupons for replacements : S

THANK YOU THANK YOU candymom1. I was just going to look that up today and you saved me from having to find it. I was curious about this issue because yesterday at Walmart the cashier made an adjustment to ensure I didn't pay tax on a FPC.

I have thought about FPC's alot. I think retailers should override the price(like a PM) to $0.00 on a FPC. This way no tax would be charged on the selling price, correct? I had a SCOP at walmart once and she rang the product in at $0.00. Does this make sense?

That does make sense acg13; the cost is 0.00 not -4.99 (or whatever) especially on free items. From what I read on the cra website, it kinda says that if the coupons says $ off or up to $, that the $ should be treated like money and deducted after taxes are added. I could not find anything about a coupon for a free product that does not indicate a monetary amount.
