Opps, sorry
MostarkaGirl, I just noticed that I spelt your username wrong, sorry I just glanced over.
The Casino is open 24/7 because Casinos are different from stores in the way that they work. there is never going to be a time you walk into a Casino and its completely empty, they even offer lodging at their hotels.... But one thing that you will notice since you have worked at a casino, when its "Dead" like it would be at night, the machines simply do not pay out at much, not to say that there aren't machines that are ready to go, but the machines pay out depending on what is going in them.
For example, a popular slot machine, wheel of fortune, there are about 20 of these machines in the 25 cent denom at the casino I frequent, they are constantly full during the hours of 6-10 if not later where you have to wait for someone to get up before going on. these machines take in so much money, they seem to be constantly paying out, however you have to think how much money is put in. A machine isn't going to pay out more then it made, because thats counter productive.
That beingsaid, there are machines that get played less, and even these wheel of fortune machines MIGHT not have paid out earlier in the day, which still gives the people who come at night, or early in the morning a chance to win as well .
See how it makes sense for a casino to stay open? because its not going to affect its profit margins too greatly, that combined with the fact its only one of the venues that the olg takes into consideration when talking about profits, casinos, bingos, sratchcards, lotto's.
It has been announced that OLG has actually been loosing money from its Casinos as well as the Bingo's.... the only reason they make up for it is through lottery's and scratchcard sales.
Also, Wallmart is expending because they are mostly turning into superstores, which offers more services to people. Because of the current state of the economy people are going to wallmart for food because of the low prices it offers. If wallmart did not turn into a super center, I highly doubt that they would profit much from expanding because simply put alot of the people they are trying to appeal to are trying to get back on their feet financially and they aren't looking to waste money on poorly made junk, but instead are going there for food.
