I've done it- sometimes I find just the right bundle at a great price. I also used to get my formula coupons there as well.
I think it's ok to pay for someone's time to collect the coupons. Isn't it just like trading for stamps?
well i guess its not that bad of idea ! but still really! mehh whatever to each there own if u want to buy them buy them !
there are some here who don't like the idea and that's fine, everyone gets to like and dislike what they want :)
I myself don't drive and am a very very long walk from anything (houses, businesses etc..) so recycling walks are few and far between, I have no problem buying multiple papers..but there are only so many coupons in them, of course I order online and watch for them in the stores when I go...but again..there's limits to ordering them, so yes I bought a couple envelopes from ebay yesterday to help get started on all this.
I agree with carmelon...I have no trouble paying someone for the time and effort required.
besides...at a buck an envelope and a bit of shipping,it's not like they are doing in for a ton of profit ;)
I personally think it is okay. For those who really want certain types of coupons it might be easier to buy it off of ebay than looking for them online, ordering, or waiting for inserts in the newspaper.
reading reply i am starting to change my option about ebay and coupons ! i dont think its all that bad any more!
but IF the people selling them are the people going into the stores and taking the whole book of coupons, or the ones that are going and stealing all the inserts out of the papers so others are not getting them, then that is totally wrong!
I would only buy coupons on Ebay if it was HV or FPC's...any tear pads, I would stay away from since chances are, this person probably took the whole pad off the shelf! IMHO
I agree with Nadia, when its your flyers or newspapers they are ripping all the inserts/coupons out of and selling on EBAy, you might think differently about paying for your own coupons, that were supposed to be free in the first place! Or having all the coupon tearpads ripped out of the stores you shop at on a regular basis. I think these people are stealing and buying from them is only encouraging them to do it more. Just think about it people, where do they get all those newspaper inserts or hundreds off tearpad coupons that they sell, THE COUPON FAIRY???? That is my opinion!
I have read dozens of posts on this forum from young mothers, old people and everyone who trys to make ends meet by couponing, these people have to get up at dawn to try and rescue their apartment bulding newspapers from those coupon thieves. Or have the lobbies of their buildings look like a cyclone hit it, when their flyers are torn apart for their inserts and thrown all over the lobbies. Do you think this is right, its a criminal act and hope everyone who does this gets caught! I was a little bit disappointed in Mrs. Jan for saying she bought coupons on Ebay, she influences a lot of people and does a lot of good for couponers, but by doing this, its kinda sends the message that this is a okay practice to do! IF I did this, which I don't and never would, I certainly would not brag or advertise it all over the internet!!
I would only do it if I really could not find the coupons any other way. I prefer to trade here but sometimes it can be really time consuming to find someone to trade with and I can see why people would just buy them from someone on Ebay.
I would avoid the tearpads and inserts as I wouldn't know whether they were just getting rid of a few extra's or had taken the whole tear pad. Having said that I really have no way of knowing if anyone on here takes whole tearpads or inserts from papers so it's a big grey area.
What is the difference between buying coupons on ebay and "trading" a gift card for coupons? Very fine line IMO
