Going into last week’s game against some team better than them, the Jays sat a tick below the Miami Marlins to sport the lowest batting average in all of Major League Baseball. They still can’t score – the Jays’ wRC+ (Weighted Runs Created Plus – basically the amount of runs they create compared to the league average) has dropped to 4th worse in the league from 88 to 87 (100 is average). Keep in mind these stats don’t include last night’s debauchery against the Seattle Mariners.
I don't even understand how it's possible to suck as hard as this team does right now. I think they have like one guy hitting better than .250 right now. They can't even get on f*cking base. I went to their game this afternoon, started out like because Dickey gave up a leadoff homer to Michael Saunders .They ended up losing 8-1 and stranding 6 guys on base.
No team in the last 10 seasons has started as poorly as the Blue Jays have this year and still made the playoffs.
More discouraging to the club’s playoff hopes is the lack of precedent for turning around an April as bad as theirs. Five teams from the past 10 years have reached the post-season after losing 15 games in the first month. None, however, have done so after losing more than that, nor after falling eight games below .500 as the Jays have.
