Requesting Coupons
Bear with me, as I'm still very new with Smart Canuck.
I'm looking for some help, I've been sending emails to companies, telling them how much I like their product and what not (like many of you have stated in your posts) but the only response I get is thank you and that's it.
Could you please provide me with some wording that you usually use in emails like this so I can get some ideas?
Much appreciated!!!

First of all ensure it is a product you actually use or have had experiece using. I have found that if I am specific in my email to them it usually works. I don't ask for coupons direclty in my email. At the end of the email I simply state "If you have have any coupons or promotions please let me know"
I am finding though that with the TV show there is an explosion of couponers out there and a lot of company's are not sending out as much as they used to.
I hope this helps

Do you actually ask for coupons in your emails? What I do is compliment a company on a specific product that my family enjoys (telling them what exactly makes it a great product) and then ask if they offer coupons to their regular customers. I tell them that I would appreciate receiving some if they do and then provide my mailing address. That way, I get the "thank you" response from them, but a definite answer as to whether or not they send coupons.
Some people have had success without asking for coupons but just having their mailing address in their signature.

Do you ask them for coupons? or are you just saying you like the product?
I ALWAYS ask.
I will say something like:
I was hoping you could send me some coupons that I can use for future purchases or direct me to a Website where I could obtain them?
I've gotten some in the mail, but alot of times it's just a big Sorry, no coupons for you!
My last try was Sally Hansen. I love their nail treatments but god they're almost $8 for a container of lotion! They said they don't have coupons but appreciated my
email :o(

I usually say something like this:
"Me and my family love your products! We would love to try more of them, so if you could send us free coupons/samples in the mail, it would be very much appreciated! Thanks."

Thanks this really helps. I'm new here and have been too chicken to email companies so far because I wasn't sure what to say. So this gives me ideas and I'm going to try it.

I saw a ad for purex toilet tissue, and email the company.. telling them that I have not see this product here in NS.... did the usual sign up thing and low and behold a very nice lady CALLED me...yay... She said the purex t/paper is for the western cdn.. but she asked if I'd like coupons for cashmere.... you bet... she's sending me some.... sometimes it pays to put your phone # down...
But in my email. I didnt' ask for coupons, just where more or less can I find the product as I would like to try it...

Some companies don't even reply but then suddenly you'll get coupons in the mail. :) That's happened to me a few times. But like others have said, there are so many more requests now that some companies have stopped sending them out.

These are all great. Thank you. I now have some ideas to go forward with.

Most of the ones I've raved about their products and at the end I asked if there were able coupons available.... and they thanked me for the compliments, but no, they don't have any available. OR they redirect me to a website, but I reply and tell them thanks, but unfortunately most of where I go doesn't accept printed (and even websaver/save.ca) coupons.
I don't have able and haven't watched any Extreme Couponing episodes, (I've always wanted to do this prior to ever hearing about the show but I hadn't gotten around to it). I honestly think the show has made it harder for people to shop now because so many people have watched it and it's giving couponing a really bad name, hence all the frequent store policy changes.
