Sorry to rant! We just moved into this place last fall. This summer we've had issues with ants, first we had trouble with them coming in through a crack in between the back door, so we sprayed all around the entrance and that fixed it. But now I keep finding these microscopic red ants!! Like it is almost impossible to even see them, especially since they blend right into the hardwood floors. So annoyed, I hate ants! I'm spraying around all the baseboards and front and back doors, also sprayed the floor where they were, squashed all the little suckers I could find too. Guess I'll have to lay some traps down, that has always worked in the past. It's gross though when I can't even see them!

that sucks! we get black ants every spring. we find the liquid bait works best. i made the mistake of getting pi$$ed at them one day as they were wandering all over my kitchen and i'd had enough so I squished them all. well it just prolonged the problem. it doesn't allow the ants to bring the bait back to their nest. have you tried washing down the areas with vinegar and water? they leave pheromone trails so other ants can easily find food sources. good luck.

I Have the big carpenter ants, but I would rather them then the small ones; I have had the small ones before and they get into your electronics and fry them.
maybe the store spray isn't enough, you might have to get a professional tocome in and spray, the prices are usually pretty resonable.
also, put out baits, they bring it back to their nests.

    1 TSP Brox
    6 Tablespoon white sugar
In 2 cup boiling water dissolve, cooled
Soak cotton balls. place on plastic lid or dish
    Takes about 4-5 days.
    Really works
I am so happy they have not come back

I did something very similar(½c sugar, i tbsp borax) - made trail around ...
Then i had leftover mix so added water, then soaked some itsy bits of bread in and left those too(admittedly this was outside!)...the ants took them home and i haven't seen them since...it also took a couple of days.
