And you all are like, "So what? It's a b'day party! Big deal!"
My daughter is 13 and she has Down's Syndrome and she is, along with her brother and sister, the light of my life. I wouldn't change her for anything. It's been hard for her though because she sees her brother and sister getting to do things like go to b'day parties and she has never been invited. It makes me sad just thinking about it.
*sniff...sniff*
This past year, we moved her from a regular classroom to a LifeSkills class and she has made all these friends. Well today, a little girl and her mom knocked on our door to drop of a birthday invite! You should have seen how excited my daughter was! She got even more excited when she saw the invite had Disney Princesses on it. She is currently obsessed with all things Princess(and Justin Bieber. Cannot wait for that phase to pass).
She is now making a list of all things she must buy for the party...LOL.This thread is currently associated with: N/A

LOL...Yes. A tutu.
She dresses strangely. Layers her clothes on top of each other. Always puts a t-shirt under a tank or a dress. Whatever. We just let her run with it as long is it is weather appropriate. As long as she thinks she looks beautiful, I am happy!
She is now sitting on the couch waiting for her dad to get home so she can show him her birthday invite.
I honestly could have hugged the mom.

Happy for you and your daughter!
As a mom of an autistic daughter, I have an idea as to how you feel. My daughter is turning 5 this July and all I got her is a Princess cake and 2 small gifts.
I just wish she has friends to have a birthday party with.
