We are heading east on Sunday to New Brunswick and then Nova Scotia. DH and I are taking our wee doggie Newton on his first big trip. We will be staying in N.B. with relatives for a week and have another week to explore N.S. in a tent.Yikes! We want to go to the Digby area and maybe the Yarmouth area. I am very excited and although I will miss the S.Cers I will be computer , watch and mostly cell phone free.(emergency only) .
We are leaving very early from Ontario on Sunday and I will talk to you when we return ,unless I break down and borrow someones laptop, but no I won't...... probably.lol So by Monday afternoon I will be on the beach with a book and a thermos of coffee ,trying to read but yelling at my little terrier to stop trying to eat jellyfish and rolling in dead things. Wish me luck. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

hope you all have a terrific time, such a great area of the
country, to drive to - sounds like you're driving.
i remember staying in digby as a kid in the summer, was fun.
the water was way too cold though
sitting here (in chicagoland), reminiscing, has been too
long since i was out east. sounds like cape breton a bit off
course for you, but maybe you could drop by my cousins in
halifax.
always loved being in new brunswick, too, such an interesting
mix of french and english.
wishing you a safe journey, winston, and hoping if you get a chance
to tell us how you both are doing and newton too

Thanx everyone for your kind words and invites. We are packed and ready to go but I keep finding things to do. I will NEED this holiday when I am done. I hate to leave my veggie garden but I have 2 big sons who will come out to water ( eat stuff) while I am away. Newton has his bed and cookies packed and a few spiffy little bandanas picked out. He knows something is up and has become my shadow in the last few days. Now lets just hope he gets along with all the relatives and is a good boy.
I am getting more excited every day and will be happy to get on the road. I have my journal and video camera ready and DH has his camera so it will be well documented. LOL

I am from NS and would say if you are going to Digby the whale watching is great and the clams and chips are AWESOME,hhhmmm drooling already. Also I would recommend rissers beach on the south shore outside Bridgewater NS I like it much better than yarmouth but it is quaint there too. Also yes consider cape breton , its beautiful.
Drive the Bridgewater - Halifax route via the south shore not the main hwy it will be worth it for the scenery and small towns you pass through and the beaches and,lol you get the idea. Have a great time.

Only one more sleep (as my granddaughter says) and we are on the road. From south-east Ontario to the beautiful Maritimes. Right now I should be packing the car but I wanted to say goodbye to my SC buds. This is Newtons first big trip so he is pretty excited. Next year we are taking 2 months to drive to Vancouver Island to see my DD who lives near Tofino. We made the trip a few years back and after driving to both coasts all I can say is "Canada is big and beautiful and filled with wonderful people and magnificent places!" I love it. Bye for now I better finish packing.Mmmmmm now where is that bug reppellent cause I won't leave home without it.
