My db and his family have been thinking of getting a dog. (a lab would be preferred) - I've been updating about dogs that come available here in my town although he lives 3.5 hours away.
During the time that we've been spending with my mum in the hospital - he snuck over to the OSPCA a couple of times and found a lovely doggie called "Tonka" (as in big as a truck) - beautiful yellow lab. - well trained but abandoned as a stray.
"Too much going on...." he kept saying.
But after talking things over with his family - they decided that something good could come of this trying time and they're going to meet "Tonka" tomorrow - I had to give him a good reference today in order to expidite he and his family being "oked" as prospective adopters.
I hope it works out for them and they get to take Tonka home (I hope they change his name!!!!)This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Hi, Avon!
Some good news for his family for sure...and you're right: sometimes you just have to make good things happen even in the darkest times...it sounds like you're all on the mend now...HUGS to you, Hon!!

My sister named her dog that! lol. I had never heard of the name Tonka for a pet before. Neat name! Her dog is a german sheppard mix with a new foundland I believe. He's huge.
I hope the dog helps cheer your db and family some.

Hope it goes well for them. My friend also has a "Tonka" dog. Her's is a little min pin. Perfect name for him as he is so little but looks just like the big dobermans.

Aww that's great news. One of the people we volunteered with at the dog rescue had a dog named Tonka but he was the tiniest little thing you have every seen. Blind as a bat and only had one tooth. But holy cow he was so sweet and snuggly.
Good luck to your brother, hope things go well for him.
