I won a Duncan Hines prize pack!
Last Friday I attended a fashion show fundraiser at a local children's boutique. Although my children are grown, my DD works at the store and it was a fundraiser for "Ride to Conquer Cancer". I brought my DM along for the evening. Tickets were $15 each, donated fully to charity, and we were given goodie bags for attending. There was a huge spread of delicious East Indian food along with a nice selection of wine. What a great way to Christmas shop! The children were simply adorable in their little outfits...walking everywhere BUT where they were supposed to! There were raffle tickets being sold for a variety of prizes so I bought five for me and five for my DM ($10). That makes a total of $25 for an evening with dinner and entertainment. I was happy.
Then they drew the raffles and I was pleasantly surprised to have my name picked. I won a Playmobil set valued at approximately $29.99. Then they drew three names for door prizes and I was chosen again! This time it was another Playmobil set valued at $49.99!
An inexpensive night, an evening with my DM, a tummy full of delicious food and wine, all while supporting a worthy cause. Not to mention that the Playmobil toys I won will be donated to our local Community Christmas Care. It was one of those "feel good" kind of nights!

does anyone ever win twitter parties and just how do you enter and win?
I just received an email stating I won $100 visa in the easy grilled cheesy contest. Problem is I threw away the code off the bread bag as the end of the contest was a while back. They said I'll have to wait til Nov 28 for it to be official now. Hope I still get the card......not used to winning.

@KJH-for Twitter contests, your Twitter account setting must be on public, not private. You log into your account, go to the Twitter account(s) running the party and answer questions with the party hashtag which is listed with the party information (i.e. #Mygifts) within your answers. Usually if there are a few prizes, the host or moderator will announce who won a specific prize and will be to told to DM (direct message) the host-names may be chosen every 10 minutes (check first posts of Twitter party to see what host indicates for draws). Thing is, if the host is not already following you, you cannot send him/her a DM. By the end of the party, host will indicate when winners of prizes (if multiple and many) will be mentioned (by Twitter names) on the host's Twitter feed.
Some Twitter parties require you to RSVP via a certain link, or to follow the host (you can or just use his or her Twitter name while participating in the party). Some Twitter attendees retweet the questions so they can see who replies to the question, but I click on host's questions to see who replies to each one. I sometimes Favourite someone's reply or send a reply to a couple of other attendees if I like something about their answer or can suggest something similar to what they posted.
This week, there are some Twitter parties going on. Usually see if Canadian brands/bloggers are hosting parties. The US ones-best to find out if US hosts want Canadian participation or not. There's a reason most Twitter parties offer a prize or prizes: to get the attendees to come to the party!
