It should be adjusted to $2.99.
It states in their policy;
If the value of the coupon exceeds the value of the product, the coupon is to
be processed as equal to the scanned retail of the product. The difference will
not be issued as change.

I really don't need any more laundry detergent, but free is free. I have 3 coupons so I will add 3 more to my stockpile of varied brands (a little tide, some sunlight, dizolve and of course, purex).
