THANK YOU SO MUCH! for everyone's input and advice through this issue I'm having.
At first I was going to be content if he was giving me back $1000 but after talking to the lady on Law Society she search for him and his "firm" in their data base to find that he's not a lawyer at all. I would have never known about the Law Society if not for you guys on SC.... Now I'm very determine to get my full amount of $1500 back. I'll be bringing my parents with me this time to help me out since my dad is not too happy about this situation either. He feels that this guy is taking advantage of me because I'm a young girl. If he still refuses, then I will go to EPS.
This is going to be a big lesson for me in life, pretty much not to trust anyone completely until I do my research. The lady from the Law Society had said the same thing, I'm probably just too trusting and too young to see the true nature of some people

You should just go to the police anyways as stealing is still stealing and they should be aware of the guy and his shoddy business. They will be able to direct you in what action should be your next as well. It's too bad there are sleazy business people.
Am looking for coupons for Pepsi or Coke products, Sun-Rype fruit leather or snacks, fruit, meat, veggies, chocolate, toothpaste, 2 in 1 shampoo, cereal ( Raisin Bran, Frosted Flakes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruit Loops) milk, restaurant,

Now that you have that information (that he is not a lawyer), you have a responsibility to not only yourself, but to others to involve the police. I highly suggest to call them immediately.
And while you're at it, smack that "friend" who referred you to him in the first place.

I know the trusting part is hard.
Our son is going through that as well. When you are in high school if you do your work and do not cause trouble teachers treat you well.
Unfortunately out in the world that is exactly the thing some adults will take advantage of.
So it is a matter of collecting information and looking at behavior before you trust someone. There are still adults and business out there that are trustworthy and it is a matter of figuring out who can be trusted and who can not.
It's like dating, shopping, etc..."you have to kiss alot of toads, etc"
Before you go to the police, get your money first and make sure the cheque clears the bank...then you can decide what you can do. He sounds like the kind that would close his bank account.
Cash would be best..

$1200 is alot better than the $500 he was offerring you.
The $300 you can look as a learning experience.
Now if it is a cheque cash it fast and make sure it clears the bank.

I am glad that you decided to contact the Law society and that you got your money back. Please contact the police so he does not do this to other people. You got lucky but I am sure that many others didn't and won't if something is not done about him.

You could also send a letter to the Alberta Barr where he will be forced to answer to his peers.
